I saw an ad for Castrol Edge synthetic oil during The Superbowl. They boast 8X the protection when compared to Mobil 1. Has anyone had any experience with this oil yet?

Looks like its meant to compete with Mobil 1 15,000. I have been running that version of Mobil 1 now for the last 15k.

Yeah we just got this oil at the Advance Auto Parts store that I run, it looks faily good but as smikeEvo said it looks to be in direct compition for Mobil1 extended performance, but it is cheaper by .20 per quart..

 

Castrol's always been in the background trying to get ahead of mobil1. First, it was their syntec blend. They marketed it to us at a low wholesale price claiming we could make a larger profit (than mobil1) selling it to customers. They already knew it couldn't compare. Now they're coming out with this. Hopefully, they try to get our buisness with the edge and I get some free box seats out of it. I still recommend the mobil 1 over anything, and it is still all I use in my vehicles.

 

I've been using Mobil 1 for all of my oil changes as well. Castrol is obviously pushing the Edge blend big time with a Superbowl add and I wanted to hear what you guys thought about the new synthetic.

 

box seats for anything is killer! I still wont use anything buy Mobile 1 in my machines too...
