Castrol Edge

Anyone use this? They claim 8X better protection then Mobile 1. Whats considered the best synthetic oil?

Redline oils used extensively for 7+ years.....but as always it's down to personal preference...

I use eneos but I know there was a big thread on what oil to use and who had bad experiences with what brands. I can't remember the link but it's on the forum some here. I would say if you want to try it try it, and if the engine doesn't like it change it out fast.

I checked bobistheoilguy forum and I couldn't find anything bad about Castrol Edge other then that it is owned by BP and they are evil. There seems to be alot of arguments about weather Castrol Edge is any better the Mobil 1. Some people say that it does have better wear protection on the rocker arms of the motor.

Just changed from Castrol Syntec to Castrol edge 5w30. I plan on sending a sample after 3k.

My 2010 x has just a little over 6k miles. I was on stock oils til about 3k, then went to castrol syntec since that's what I had in my STI. When I went back to the Walmart for another 5quart jug, they were out and all I could find was the new Edge stuff. We'll see how it goes. From Bobistheoilguy I saw some posts that say this stuff might shear after 2k or so. Guess I'll help be a guinea pig.

oh man. Sorry. I collected the sample of the castrol edge after 3k miles but during that time i was moving into a new house. It was packed away. I'll have to email the oil analysis people to see if it will still be good. I've also gone back to Castrol Syntec since running edge so I cant take another sample.

Holy old thread, but to add to input.
Run the Mobil 1 high mileage stuff, it the old formula with the SL rating with a high zinc count.
