i understand your point but the ppl that actually race there car often run a test pipe so that there able to run race gas without jacking up there cat...maybe ppl dont race everyday, i think it comes down to they dont want to crawl under the car to swap out the cat everytime they wan2 to run race gas

If you're going to be running race gas 5% of the time, why have a modification that is detrimental 95% of the time?

A diesel should but a gasoline engine shouldn't.

any turbocharged vehicle will, all it is is unburnt fuel while under full boost bc the injectors are under a higher duty cycle....some cars have a more efficient tune from the factory but im saying ive seen plenty bone stock vehicles do it

Only if they have a really rich tune. I never did it stock, around town or at the track and I certainly don't do it now.

It could have to do with the boxer design but I doubt it.

I can understand that having no cat and running a straight-thru exhaust is very harmful to the world we live in, but many car enthusiasts like the more aggressive sound and slight performance increase. I do feel guilty often about the way I'm running and I hate the extra smell that I get because of running straight....And I may perhaps consider putting the cat in place. Everyone has their own point, but sometimes the slight immaturity I may have leads me to cross the line a bit. What can I say....I admit my fault.

possibly, but i doubt it it has to do with air fuel ratios and whether its burning efficiently

Which is why I think it's a tune issue. It might not be a problem per say, it might just be the nature of the car.

nature of any boosted car..yes. at full throttle while under full boost no vehicle is going to burn 100% of the full= dark smoke....probly worse with the test pipe tho
