Anyway, I doubt ZR1 will win, American cars are just not as loved as Japanese or European automakers. I think GT-R is a safe winner. If it win no one will complain. This & the fact the Corvette was never available as Right hand drive & not available in many markets.

Someone need to tell Chevy to come out with a Right hand drive corvette.

I am surprise that R8 didn't make the list too. No Ferrari? Thought the new Ferrari Suderi (or whatever its call) is a beast.
one of the problems is the Japanese just flat out make better cars

i'll check that out, and also see if I can find that review I was talking about. A shame that it is having those issues though... i'm sure Nissan will quickly do something to correct the issue considering how much money they cost.... or at least I would hope.

Yup...Nissan is already doing something about the problem. The U.S. Dealers currently don't have the new GT-R's to sell at the moment since Nissan has to reprogram the ECU so that the GT-R launches at a lower RPM (which in turn will increase the time it takes the GT-R to get from 0-60)....Just like the Evo IX has a 5,500 rev limiter.....So I guess that's why Mitsu puts that rev limiter in place, so that it won't break/damage the tranny parts and components.

Oddly enough, this is also from the inside line.

http://http://www.edmunds.com/inside...ticleId=124017

We know you want the numbers and we're not going to waste your time. Neither is Nissan. Its 2009 GT-R hits 60 mph in 3.3 seconds

Keep your foot pinned, and after another tap on the upshift paddle it will clear the quarter-mile in 11.6 seconds at more than 120 mph.

You were correct on what the GT-R's 0-60 time was, but it won't launch so hard anymore because of the reflash/reprogram Nissan will now give it. It'll still be fast, but the 0-60 time will be around 4 seconds possibly.

I guess whatever's out is out, but the rest of the GT-R's have been currently placed on hold....And I bet Nissan will have to reflash those on the lot also and all the ones that the current GT-R owners have.

I have to say i'd be pretty T'd off if I bought a car for 80 grand or more expecting the performance I had read and seen, and then lost some of that because of a design flaw, or whatever is causing the issue.

I didn't mean to get off topic by the way, and as I said, I am quite impressed with the X being on this list with so many top cars, the only thing that has hurt this car has been the added weight causing slightly slower 0-60 and 1/4 times... but I think I saw 13.6 for the quarter, the best I saw for the stock IX was 13.3.. so big deal... Mitsu can throw a good base tune and likely at least make that much up.

Oh yeah....If I had one, I would be very angry.....But everyone has to understand that if a vehicle launches that hard, it's destined to put that much torture on the vehicle's drivetrain. The GT-R has a sport automatic transmission, and so many owners may not realize/feel how much damage they are causing every time they use the "launch control" so that they may get the absolute fastest start/0-60 time.....But you know what.....I now know why many people wait to buy the 2nd year version of a brand new vehicle model.....Because they simply want all those "BUGS" and all those small and major problems out of the way.

That's what I think also. You probably got the quarter mile times from edmunds.com when they compared the IX to the X. The 0-60 time was identical at 4.9 seconds and the 1/4 mile time was like you said...0.3 seconds difference. Nevertheless, the X is a superb performance sedan like the IX. Only if I were to get it, I would wait for the 2nd year version

I just bought mine, and will get it tomorrow night late. I was thinking of waiting for the second year, but if something breaks or whatever.. i'll get it fixed under warranty. They will likely make the tune better, but you can do that now... the 0% probably isn't going to be there when the next ones come out, and we're not even sure Mitsu will stay in the U.S. much longer. If the economy picks up the prices you can get them for now won't likely happen either. The tailights, and cup holders I don't care about either so... I just went with the 08... but if you can do better by waiting then more power to ya

Congrats on your new X.....I saw a while back that you posted your RR IX RS for sale with about 4k miles on it. That was a beauty. I wish I could've bought that one for my second car, but I'm married and I have baby now...So having another Evo wouldn't really make the family nor the wife happy. hahaha I posted my Evo IX MR for sale, but I didn't have any luck in selling...So I guess I'll keep my Evo...And plus I'm still very addicted to driving it all the time. Oh yeah, and on to the topic now....I wish the X good luck on winning the competition on this Top 10 thing..?..

yeah, I really loved my RS, and had it been a safer car, I would have kept it. I'm getting married in Sept. and I got the X because I would like to have something fun, but something that has a good safety rating which the X has.. so though I had to give up one fun car, at least I can replace it, plus it has had such good response to mods and such which I like a lot. A shame you can't get another Evo, but I understand family politics too lol.

I see the X maybe getting the 5th or 6th spot as from what the article said, it's not only based on performance, value, and a few others, so I see it doing better than the STI, because it's been clear that the X is faster on the track... maybe not in a straight line, but the S-AWC along with the other little gizmo's on it will help it pass the Subie, the BMW, while a very nice car.. the performance stock vs. stock isn't much better than the X in a straight line, again though.. on the track I believe the X was faster... if i'm wrong feel free to correct me. The value of the X will hold better than the BMW though and I think that will put the X above it as well. Just my .02 on a few of the competitors

As a track car, the X certainly is the best value on that list.

Otherwise, I can't say I agree with the current RS6 and SL 63. Neither are particularly good at anything save for going quick in a straight line, and prob doing so comfortably. Should have replaced the two with the R8 and M3. M3 is more balanced than the C 63 too imo. Viper ACR isn't bad either.
