FAST Key Service Required

Just bought the car about a month ago (yes, I'm new to evo) and today I get a FAST Key Service Required. I can't start the car or even lock the doors. I also tried starting it manually but that didn't work either. My Viper alarm also stopped responding. What caused this?

Very interesting. I am aware of a TSB on the FAST keys where they loose their programming because of cell phones (they will replace both fobs) but nothing in it mentioning a diagnostic message. Call Mitsu's roadside service number, and they will tow your vehicle to your dealer. Not sure what other options you would have. Please do keep us posted.

did you put the fob in the back of the key when trying to start it manually?

I did. The car is "dead." Nothing is working.

Yea my FAST key works great, if everything is dead, maybe your battery died too? Just a thought.

do you get any lights at all? maybe your battery is dead. aftermarket alarm systems can be installed poorly and cause slow drains on your battery, which is normaly fine but the X comes with such a small battery....

+1 if nothing is working i would be willing to bet that it is the battery. hook it up to a charger and see if you have a short. Because you should see and error with the fast key on the screen if there is one. Because even if i don't have my fast key with me i can get in my car and the screen will light up and show me the screen with the service time...etc.

My fast key has performed flawlessly so far, but I probably shouldn't have said so
