Cant open hood, help please :-)

well, i went to pop open the hood and the plastic part broke exposing the wire that runs to the latch. I tried just pullingthe wire out some more and it wont budge. Any ideas? Also i tried using a long metal rod to open the latch that you usually move just a little after you've popped it up. I stuck the rod through the front grill and was able to move it, but it didnt seem to help anything.

If you can't go get a new plastic handle for it, use some channel locks or vise grips and pull on the cable HARD. Good luck.

I am afraid of that happening to mine too, mine is hard to pull to get the hood open and I think at some point its going to break too.

If it does willl the dealer just replace it? Is there any way to make it easier to pop without putting so much stress on the cheap plastic lever?

Dragon you will need help to do this. One person pushing slightly down on hood while other pulls on line. You may need to take off panel under dash to get more room to grab the metal wire and wrap a bit around channel-locks. I believe I saw a thread here of on other forum concerning this. Good luck!

ok so once i get another plastic part to connect the wire to, I'm gonna have to have someone push down on the hood everytime i want to open it? I dont understand what's going on here lol. Also anyone know where i can purchase the plastic part? or if it will be covered under warranty?

Yeah, I think it be a defect....it happened to me and I used some vise grips to pull on that bad boy and the hood opened but I think I had pulled to hard and yanked too much of the cable back. I just took it to the dealership and they replaced everything (cable, latch, etc.) under warranty. The plastic handle actually opens the hood now...smooth and easy....

Mine has been hard as hell to pull since day 1, always feels like it's going to come off in my hand. But I didn't know it has actually happened! Going to have the dealer take a look at this when it goes in for the ACD pump next week.
