Question Should I buy a BOV, Help please

Wondering if I should purchase a BOV for my EVO X....Thinking about the HKS or BLITZ. Some people said BOV's are bad for Engine/Boost? Is that True

why do u feel u need one?

they are not bad, but they are not needed and cause drivability problems

most of the recirculated one should be good, u don't need one till u push over 26 lb of boost, but some stock ones will start to leak boost around 20 ish. So some people get a aftermarket one to hold boost better, some get it for sound. Its really up to u.

the VIII's bov are plastic, the IX are metal which make them a good simple upgrade for people with VIII's. I am uncertain about the X's, but I'd imagine it would be metal.

Yup metal in the X, and it is a heavy little sucker at that.

If you are going to do light modification, your tuner shop might want you to put the stock back on before they touch your car or tune it (or will give you a hard time). I got the Agency Power BOV and it sounds good and all, but going to tuner shop and doing light boltons and tune, they recommend putting the stock back on.

You miles may vary....but IMO, as I told my bro who bought the BOV, put the money into something that actually makes power for now. Nothing against BOV...they're cool, but they are more than a want rather than a need.

nooo 101!!!! ^_^

like stated above if you really want to have a BOV get a recirc or a 50/50 these new engines dont like full 100% VTA BOV's unfortunately. The OEM stocker will do everything you need it to and if you want more of the "woosh" sound then get an intake. You should speak with your tuner or other reputable tuners on the boards and tell them your goals and they will let you know what parts would be the most advantagous to accomplish what you want.

for a while i wanted a BOV for my X, but after doing some research and talking to a local shop....i dropped the idea of getting one. No point of getting one based on what i want out of my x (bolt ons and a tune)

HKS one sounds horrible imo, like a bird chirping No real need for any of them imo, unless some extra noise, or undr bonnet bling is what you want

Yap, alot of people change to a BOV is for the "Sound effect", although not all will admit.

I like to be subtle & not be the "attraction" of the neighbourhood, so loud exhaust (at low rpm) & fancy sounding BOV are no no of me.

x stock BOV will make a good "swoosh" sound on aftermarket air filters. X bov can handle a 28psi boost.
