Ron Marhofer installed the tape, they keep my car for 5 hours in a heated garage, they didn't clean or prep the car, so yah! I'm just sick of the speculations, that I'm at fault! It's getting to the point where I'm footsteps away from returning the car to Mitsubishi permanently! If I was still having issues with the car and they were working with me properly, I would let all of this go, however their placing blame, hence the reason I'm upset with this entire situation! Never once have I brought any of my Mitsu's in for repair until I purchased the flagship of their fleet.

Here you go, Id print this off and take it to the dealer -- Mitsubishi should step up and take care of it if you can get the dealer to take the time to follow the process correctly.

Let's not blow this out of proportion. I've had my car for about a year with almost 15k on the clock. The aero kit's quality isn't as bad as people claim it to be. It's no worse or better than most factory aero option.

I hear ya.....I'm pissed at MMNA too for the way they dealt with me on my Aero Kit issue. I'm on my second passenger side skirt. Mine isn't as bad as yours, but I wouldn't be surprised it got worse over time. They released that TSB a week after I filed for formal arbitration, but it looked like a really weak attempt to correct this issue. Seriously.....do they think that replacing some double-sided tape is going to fix it? Didn't the first and second new side skirts they installed on my car have brand new tape too? Weak. Here's my story posted in this thread:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...now-about.html

I too would encourage all with the problem to contact MMNA and file a formal complaint, and take it through their arbitration process. They ruled against my complaint because they felt it didn't impact safety. However, it probably cost MNNA more to hire an independent 3-panel arbitration board, consider my case, and issue a 5 page written ruling, than it would have cost them to just suck it up and refund the cost of my kit, or have a body shop do a proper fix. Plus, all the time and resourced they spent replacing sideskirts, etc. In the end we both lost....but, it was satisfying to make the point that I wasn't happy with the way they handled this.

Filing for arbitration takes little time on your part, but initiates a lot of work on MMNA's part. You just fill out a form and write a letter including photos and copies of service records for the issue. You need to demonstrate that you've given the dealer multiple opportunities to correct the issue but not resolved. You then get to choose if you want to appear before a 1-person or 3-person panel to make your case (single vote vs. majority vote). You can also choose to do everything via mail with no in-person appearance. MMNA has to pay all the costs to hire this arbitration panel.

Keep up the fight Xtremist

I didn't blow this out of proportion, first and foremost! Two of the times they replaced the rocker with the base panel, leaving me with a aero on the drivers side and a base rocker on the passenger side, better yet they uninstalled the base rocker and let me leave the dealership with no panel what so ever!

Do you think Mitsubishi has once picked up the tab on all the gas and mileage I've consumed due to their factory defect? Or how about the $1000 dollar rebate check from Medina Mitsubishi that bounced, which I had to repay out of my own pocket, do you think Mitsubishi did anything about that? I'll make this real clear, Mitsubishi will take care of this issue !!! If they don't, I'll personally take care of it for them; I return the pile of sh*t they shoveled out way to early to try and increase sales!!!

P.S. For all you guys out their with the base rocker, take a long gander at the back portion of the molding near the wheel well and try to count the amount of paint chips you've accumulated over the vehicles short life span! Two weeks with the base rocker and I couldn't keep count of all the paint chips, due to the over abundance! Thank you Zarl for your support, my efforts will continue!

Mine was messed up when I purchased the car, but is now getting fixed. Hopefully it won't be an issue with mine.

What aftermarket skirts are available?

Guys, the design of the car causes bad air to go through those areas of the kit. If you drive alot on the interstate, at 'high' speeds, this could happen. I had a contour SVT with the same issue when I would drive 101 miles daily to work at 75MPH. I would recommend looking at some bracing or trying to do something to clean up the air through there.

I just bought mine and it was messed up, so that may be why they're helping me. I'm emailing this thread to them to make them aware that there is a common problem with them.

Finally people are speaking up about this, I had not one issue with Mitsubishi prior to their accusations of my rocker being a "self inflicted issue" at which I was at fault! The car rolled off the showroom floor like this. Like I said I wouldn't be so irate if it weren't for their lack of customer support, they look at me as if I'm purposely trying to have them replace the skirt, I DO NOT want another new skirt I just want mine REPAIRED!!!

Supposedly the Mitsu rep is turning this over to the engineers, I'm suppose to hear something before to long, I hope this issue gets resolved and no one else it put through the rat race I was! The reason my rocker looks worse than most cases is due to it's removal, were looking at more than 10 removals in total, 4 rockers molding and the many times they removed it to glue or apply adhesive tape! In other words, parts are worn and incredibly loose now! Never once did they look up tsb's for this issue, first thing to come out of their mouths was, "I don't have any other Evo's with this issue"! I for one believe anyone with this issue and constant accusations Mitsu/dealership made would definitely be upset, as I am! 40k and I'm in the shop every month.

Xtremist -- let us know what MMNA tells you. FWIW, they told me the same thing that they were "turning it over to the engineers", but their solution was......new tape. (Also, if you look at the TSB, you'll see that the tape only attempts to fix the rear mount, but does nothing for the front mount.)

No other Evos with issues? All the ones on the showroom where I bought mine had the same problem....doesn't make it OK though.
