not sure if you guys know this but...if you hold downt he AC buttom for 10+ seconds, it will beep a few times and it will not turn on on its own.

Don't forget about wheel slippage durring the winter months (if you live in an area that gets snow). No matter what you do, you will experiance some spin on ice and snow which is useless power "slipping away" that still burns fuel.

^+1. The other sources, warm up, more viscuous oil, etc. at start up are factors but pale to the above IMHO.

Yeah, I was getting about 20 MPG combined, now I'm down to like 16-17. It blows.

That's wierd, my car is the opposite. I went to North Carolina back in December for about two weeks and I was getting better mpg than being here in Florida.

You just were not as familiar with NC, so you were not on the pedal as much! LOL

Milage on any internal combustion engine will be less in the winter. A car's engine is designed to operate the most efficiently at operating temperature as is the rest of the cars parts. Let alone the density/moisture content of the air in the winter. Idling an engine takes long time for it to warm up to operating temp in the winter-especially with the low temps some parts of the country are having.
Try and time how long it takes for your car's engine to reach op.temp. Then do it again in the summer (or someone who lives where it's summer all the time-Miami can time it and see the difference. Times that by the amout of times a day your engine heat cycles and there is where your big mpg difference is.
