Oh, I am SO back, suckers!
So here's the scoop:
I posted up my whinging crybaby thread about my 135i being a bad choice since we found out we were having another baby (coming within the next couple weeks max), and I got a few PMs.
In this economy, it seems more than a few dealerships are matching South Coast prices. I hit a local one that has Mitsu and VW. Their pricing was great, but their trade offer on my 135i was _LAME_. Lame to the point that I was insulted.
Then I had a hero arrive in the form of jimm. jimm is a great guy on here and is a real Evo enthusiast. He also used to live local to me. He gave me a referral to the dealership he bought his Evo from, Sam Swope Mitsubishi in Lousiville, KY. He said they work really hard for sales and will do a great job. An added perk, he told me, was that they also had a BMW dealership, and might give me more love on my trade.
Man, that was the understatement of the decade! After much wheeling and dealing on the phone, they gave me a full $4800 more in trade than the local Mitsubishi dealer gave me, and also gave me a crazy killer deal on the Evo. To top it off, even though 0% for 5 years supposedly ended yesterday, I got a stay of execution and got 0% on the deal. I was able to drop my payment AND reduce my term. These guys were very kind and high class. I can't tell prices, because they are not a vendor on here, so please don't ask. But buying it from them is part of my story, and I wanted to share that part.
On to the car. As you can see, its a Phantom Black SSS. They also had a Phantom Black base, and that was what I was going to do, but I got there and just could not pull the trigger on the base car. It was cheaper, but X HIDs are so darn good, the big wing, the big stereo, yep SSS please.
It also has the aluminum shift knob and e-brake handle kit.
Its a three hour drive to Louisville. I dropped my 3 year old daughter off at daycare this morning and hit the road. I made it up in a little over two and a half hours. I varied the RPM in the X as much as I could, so it took closer to 3 to get home.
I missed the car more than I thought. There's a power and luxury drop, but the seats, the SAYC, the four door usefulness, and the way this thing is telepathic in steering more than make up for it.
Plus, you can't shake a stick at 0%. Look at interest paid over full term, and I sliced away $11,500 in interest alone dumping the 135i.
Its good to be home (Evo) indeed. Thanks jimm from Evom! Thanks Arthur, Larry, and Kenny from Sam Swope Mitsu!

Ah, another bit.
I am happy to report this car's transmission is a ton better than my last car! I drove a couple cars and this one shifted the nicest of all of them.
I think there is just some variances in manufacturing tolerances. I am sure this tranny is robust, so I was not afraid of the notching, but its bonus points this one does not do it.
The other problem I had was rock spray. I will be getting those Rally Armor mud flaps ASAP when I can find a vendor on here that has them. I want to be proactive in taking care of it.
To whoever asked if black was my first choice, it was not.
My VIII was black, so its kind of cool to be back where it all started, but care for any black car is for someone who has a lot more time than I typically do. But when they are clean, they look sinister.
To whoever mentioned that I need to stop trading cars, I AGREE. And man, so does my wife. She was not at all excited about going to a car we got out of, but when she looked at the deal and the truth in lending for interest savings and how fast it will pay down, it was a no brainer for both of us.
