No more cold air!!

So i turned on my air conditioner today and after 5 mins I was still getting hot air. The last time i used it was about 2 weeks ago and it worked fine. Any basic things i can check before bringing it in?

Maybe you got a hole in a evaporator and the R134A leaked out... I would check if you have gas in the system. There should be a nipple valve somewhere to see if it's charged. Depress it with a screw driver (similar to a tire valve) and if you hear a hiss its charged, if you don't you got a leak somewhere.

IIRC look on the passenger side of the engine bay. There is a silver line running along the fender. There is a blue screw on cap in the valve. Take off the cap, and just lightly blip the valve and see if you hear a hiss come out.

Look on the right for the silver line with blue cap.

well, i unscrewed the cap and pushed on the valve......... nothing. I remember last week after i got out of the car and was doing something near the front, i thought i heard what i know now could have, and probably was a leak. It was coming from around the passenger side of the intercooler and it seems that's right where that line runs. Is there any way for me to fill it back up and test it to find the leak? also.... what exactly is that gas for?

You should be able to buy R134A at your local walmart/autozone. Its a can of pressurized liquid that comes with the necessary piping to screw on to the valve. Its basically the coolant the compressor uses for the A/C function. Remember that big fat black tank in the back of the refrigerator, your car has one of those too and R134A is the liquid that runs through it.

I wouldn't bother finding the leak since you should be covered under warranty for that sorta thing. Let Mitsu fix it.

Yes any autoparts store has 134A. Just ask for it. Make sure you get a gauge with it. There should be a specification somewhere in the engine bay on how much it should be charged. Something like 0.96/kg or something like that. Maybe on the hood.

It pretty simple to charge it, just follow the directions for a particular charging kit.

Also check the other nipple that is running parallel to that line that you checked, should have a blue cap as well. If both give nothing, then you have a leak and need 134A to check.

There are 2 ports typically a high side and a low side, they are covered by caps. You can buy off the shelf charging kits, but I would not do it. They come with meters with empty to full. The problem is you never know exactly how much you are putting in, and if you overcharge the system you can damage it. When you modded the car did you touch any of the AC lines?
