Passenger airbag off light

Hi Guys,

Just picked up my EVO X tonight. For some reason the "No Passenger Airbag" light next to the emergency blinker switch is always on, unless someone sit in the passenger seat. Is this normal?

There is a sensor in the seat that requires a certain amount of weight before the SRS system arms the passenger airbag. I don't know if they publish a number, but think it would be somewhere around 15-20 lbs since my old computer bag would cause it to arm (and then complain about the passenger seatbelt not being fastened).

cool, that's good to know. Usually in the other cars I've owned, the light is off when the pass. seat is completely empty, then it turns on when there is light load, and finally turns off when a person sat in it.

yes the light stays on until a weight of 65 lbs or close to that is placed on the passenger seat. this is what the tech did when i had my seats recalibrated cuz i swapped out the MR seats.

There had to be a better thread to resurrect. Seriously. "The airbag turns off when there's no-one in the seat???" needed to die.
