when are the 2010 EVO X available?
there's nothing wrong with the clutch in that car. people have been saying that since the 03 EVO's. it's not the clutch, it's the driver. just look at the guy on the first page of this thread that's on his second AFTERMARKET clutch. that has nothing to do with the EVO's stock clutch at all. that's just bad drivers, period. i got 70k+ miles out of my stock clutch in my IX MR with plenty of drag passes, autocrosses, racing, and just generally beating the hell out of it everyday. mitsu doesn't need to upgrade the clutches. people need to upgrade their driving skills.
It's crazy to hold out for the next model year, as many have said , they will limit supply in the future and deals that are available now may NEVER be seen again given that the dollar is likely to crap out and inflation on imported goods will be on the rise. (if you doubt me search for a post in the fall where I told everyone not to buy yet cause the economy and car market would continue to tank). Right now there is a EVO MR near me for 31.5 K , loaded ! I atually thought about buying a second EVO for a minute (but that would be excessive). That's got to be below cost to make the darn thing. An EVO will cost you 35K in a year or 2 , if they still sell them at all, and can be bought for under 30K with good financing now. BTW, interest rates in 2 or 3 years for cars will be 8+ % I believe even for those with good credit (with say a 10% chance of going over 10% with hyper-inflation). If you want a car and can afford one and have job stability to keep it, buy it now.
Yea, that's about right haha
Regarding manual driving... many people think "good" or "performance" clutches mean that they can be totally reckless with them. They are simply made the handle more pressure, not to handle more abuse. There's tons of people who "power-shift" and it is bound to destroy the clutch. RPMs give more power, of course, but there is a point where it becomes excessive if you don't know how to use RPMs. If you generally understand how a standard transmission works, you can even shift gears without the clutch at all, given you are good at gauging the correct gears and speed combinations. I used to do it all of the time in my VW.
Mitsubishi needs to wake up, even the 370z beats the Evo. Make tha X 300lbs less and add about 60whp, then i don't see any competition. Seems to me mitsu is trying to make it luxury car, but fails at that too. Remove all that crap blue tooth, 30gb hardrive etc. Bring the old classic style back!

They are trying to make the car better so they can have more prospective buyers. Bluetooth and a 30gb hard drive won't shave 300lbs and there are a lot of people that won't buy a car unless it has all the features you guys wanna remove.
I will never buy the first year model of anything. Even though the car is essentially unchanged, Mitsu enters many changes to the car. The 04 model was an improvement over the 03, the 05 wan an improvement over the 04 and the 06 was an improvement over the 05. In Aug 05 I got a GSR for 0%, then I traded it in on an 06 in April 07 because the 05 had a coolant leak from the block that the dealer insisted was not there. I am very happy with the 06. The shifting is smoother, the turbo is better, and the power potential is more than the 05. Yes, I am paying more interest, but I do not regret the move at all.
If Mistsu history is any guide, then the 2010 will be slightly better than the 08 and the 2011 will be way better than either the 08 or 2010.

Put more time into engine. I guess that's my point.
