I was an Evo virgin when I bought mine. I had never even sat in one, before buying. But had done plenty of research before hand. Coming from a WRX, I knew more or less what to expect.

I have a few minor gripes about build quality. But absolutely love the performance and handling. No regrets here.

hell no

talked to the dealer on the phone, faxed over the credit app with A+ score, then walked into the store at 8pm, left the store at 9pm.....oh, and that included trading in a 07' STI because they wanted to give me a little more $ (car was going to be a lease return).

no...we didnt test drive the damn car. wife wanted a stick-shift with turbo charged engine...and has to "looks" fast within the budget, EVO X was a no-brainer

noooooooooooope.

Well i drove a friend's Evo X before but only for like 2 min. I didn't like it at first.

The day I got my car, I stopped by a Subaru dealer first to check out the 08' STi. I was actually planning to get an STi that day instead of an Evo. I drove the STi, left in disgust.

Went down the street to South Coast Mitsubishi and got smashed =). I knew what the Evo was already, didn't request a test drive.

Nope. That's like buying a $30000 stereo without listening to it.

(im still trying to find one with SSS for 30k OTD w/0%)
I bought my X sight unseen and never drove one before. But I was coming off of 6 years in a Ford Taurus wagon, so I knew I'd be happy with the X.

Here is a crazy long story In 06 I bought my IX without test driving it, I only saw Pics I was in IRAQ....... but I had driven an EVO a year earlier in PA. Jerrys didn't used to allow test drives. They let us test drive the 05 VIII but we were trading in the 06 STI.

Because Were such loyal customers, We were the first ones to drive the X they had to take it off the show room floor it was the day after they recieved them. I also drove the new STI the same day and hands down the evo felt much better!

So we ordered a GSR fully loaded, it came in about a month later we traded in the 05 VIII they gave us 19K for it and including financing OTD it was another $22,600? I paid it off in 4 months, but total the car cost us about $42K. You guys now are getting one heck of a deal!!!!

Hell yeah I was hoping to like the 08 STI but absolutly hated it!! I actually miss her old 06 STI, but Love the X and only regret not getting the MR.

the wife is on her second Evo I'm still loving my 06 I haven't driven a vehicle I like better yet.

the new STI is ugly......saw one on the road and it looked like a mazda 3 or a protege from behind...not a very aggressive look

Similiar story here. had a 2003 OZ Rally (auto) and knew i was going to upgrade to turbo AWD. Read reviews of the sti and evo, and decided to keep in the family (had a 93 mirage back in high school). I got an awesome deal (they really needed a sale) and they drove me home in my car. I had driven stick briefly twice before so I had the concept down but didnt feel comfortable test driving it (without owning it).
