Carbon hood

so im thinking of ordering a carbon hood
but i see that most of the manufacturers all say that hoos pins are required witch i guess would be a liability release for them

for those of you that already have carbon hoods are you useing hood pins?

cause i pry wont get one if i have to use pins

it will look like crap in a few years, less if its left outside. Stick with the stock hood, its nice and light as it is.

"peace" of mind

i never had hood pins before, never had a problem. those that fear of hoods flying up in the air and stuff are just idiots that didn't close their hoods properly. 99% that's the case. it's nothing to worry about.

Yeah, WAY off topic. I mean, he didn't even mention the word "hood" in his post

stock aluminum hood is already awesome, you don't have to buy a piece that will have clear coat problem and be butt ugly in couple years.

Doesn't Varis make a quality hood? It's expensive but I thought they were one of the best.

it doesn't really matter...all carbon coatings will fade if left out in the sun for too long without proper protection, meaning cleaning/waxing every two weeks at the least. if you can keep that up, you can even keep the seibon stuff from yellowing.

it will also peel after a short while. Then if a rock hits it you will have a nice crack or chip.

Fading/yellowing is annoying as crap and there's nothing you can do about it after a certain amount of time except have it refinished.

Only time I ever owned a CF hood was when I had my turbo s2000, and going to shows. The night before, I would put it on, goto the show, after coming home, would immediately take it off and put the stock one back on.

Only way I would own another one is if I damaged the stock one, couldn't find a good deal on another stock one, then would go with another CF hood.

The hood pin part is probably due to liability like someone else mentioned.

One reason I bought the evo over another STi is because the evo has aluminum hood, fenders and roof. My 05 STi had alu hood, but new ones dont. I dont care much about the roof but the hood is a must for rocks, I hate having rust all over the front! Plus the STi got rid of sodium exhaust valves, the new driving modes suck etc...
