Okay cool. did you notice any difference with that one? (other than it will last longer)

Clutch feels the same. Its an Evo 8 CMC with a lightweight billet aluminum mount and braided hydraulic line. Its quality overkill.

peter from texas obviously knows how to properly drive a manual transmission. which can't be said to too many people these days.

i'm at 105k right now with original clutch and original cmc (no modification to cmc). not sure if my clutch will last me another 25k though. it's not really slipping yet but it def does not grab as hard as it used to on both up shift and down shifts.

did it give you any warning before it died?

right now, once in a blue moon, when i change gear from say, 4-3, the resistance in my clutch seems to vanish for a split second during mid-clutch. and it only happens in downshifts (three times so far in a span of 10k miles). never felt it on an up shift before.

i'm wondering if this is the cmc telling me that it's about to explode or something.

I'm so jealous of the lifespan of your CMC. Mine only lasted a good year. I'm glad I went with Magnus alongside my new clutch.

Just hit 90k miles the other day on my '08 GSR.

- All fluid changes done as scheduled. Just did ALL of them the other day too. Everything is super easy to reach on this vehicle.. all the fill/drain plugs are in convenient easy to reach places.
- Still on the original clutch and cmc. Still feels as strong as it did when I bought it.
- Replaced brake pads once.. new rotors and pads coming this summer.
- Dead AYC pump.. going to get it replaced under warranty before 100k. (TSB/recall letter in hand)
- Replaced all the spark plugs and boots a while back because I thought there was an ignition related problem with the engine running weird.. it turned out to be that I just blew the 1/4 vacuum line off my intake manifold. Zip tie fixed it. Money wasted..
- 3 or 4 sets of tires, and 2 sets of rims since Michigan roads are worse than Iraq. Getting a new set of Bridgestone re760 Sport's in 265-35-18 Tuesday.
- A few burned out lightbulbs here and there.
- Lots of 93oct gas

Overall, it is probably one of the most reliable vehicle's I have owned.

About to hit 123000 any day now.
I swear she's the most trouble free car I ever owned!!!
Also after owning huge diesel trucks, v8 sports cars, my EVO is the biggest gas guzzler around!!

Just wanted to thank the people for this thread. I jumped into an Evo after just being in love with it since the X concept photo was released. I started reading the forums and got scared at stories of the stock clutch going early.. really early. But this thread has restored some faith... a lot in fact.
