Second big service 25000 km Type 'd'

I am at 21000 Km.

I went for the 'D' type service for 25000 km (i think) this is the special extreme conditions service. I got it because I drive a long ways to work all year round. A lot of it in -30 C with quick starts and stops. Lots of idling in traffic and sometimes horrible gravel roads. So i went with this service as I know this kind of driving is hell on these kinds of cars.

The service cost me $1050 CDN. A lot. It included changing all fluids, filters, and measuring brake wear. They also checked the timing chain, valve clearance and stuff like that.

I also went for the AYC diff pump that uses the ATF fluid as my pump acted up the first time it his -30C. I was told it would take around a month to get the part, which suprised me because i know this dealership had sold lots of evo x's and lots of people in edmonton had this problem. So i thought they might have one on hand. Of course they didn't.

I was told it takes a while for them to get clearance to warranty any issues cause of Mitsubishi. I told them about the problem when the car had 6500 km on it around october but they didnt know about the issue then. I was even asked how old the car was and all that like they didnt know when they got them. Edmonton got them a little later then the rest. Maybe 3 months before I got mine.

I have no problem with any of this because this is what I expected from MITSU. I was also told this was a 4 hour service and would cost $400 CDN. I tried to inform the person on the phone that this would take way more then 4 hours and that she should check again. Twenty minutes on hold (long distance) later I was told the same answer. Of course it worked out to 8 hours and $1100.

I wish mitsu had the same service as some of the other Japanese companies, but as far as individual deals go I guess this isnt that bad. I came from owning a Mazdaspeed 3. Dealing with the dealership I bought my car from was horrible, but I went to another one in the same city that was highly recomended. Mazda treated me like gold. Always had a loaner (i didnt have the extended warranty). They always washed my car after the service. They found problems i hadnt found and also did the work promptly. Mazda Canada responded to my calls when I did have an issue that the dealership couldnt handle, and dealt with it right away.

I will always buy another evo, but never a different mitsubishi product. When the American companies start competing again with the Japanese products the Suburu and Mitsubishi better look out.

All in all I got what I expected, which is a Fun car to drive and pain in the *** to Maintain. I know I can do a lot of these services myself, but I dont have a jack or a decent place to work in.

I was wondering about that... I have nearly 30,000km, and the last time I took it in for an oil change was the first I was told of this service (which I'm supposed to be getting done next week, but sure as hell wasn't expecting an $1100 hit)

For the most part, I've had pretty good luck with my dealership (Platinum) in Calgary... but, they've got a new guy who "rubs me the wrong way" if you know what I mean... when I went in for the standard oil change, he had put on the quote ($220 estimated)... so when i questioned him, since I've never paid over $120, he dropped it to $150... which, still seems high, but, oh well...

How much do you pay for a Mobil 1 oil change... assuming that's what you do?

I think I pay $155 at southside including the filter and crush washer. The bills are in my car so I would have to check to make sure. But i`ve never walked out of a mitsu dealership without paying $150 minimum.

In Fort McMurray where everything is generally way more expensive I actually pay $95 for the change but supply my own filter ($14 from mitsu). I do use Mobil 1 as well.

$150 for an oil change is expensive. Oil and filter cost less than $60
