Markham Mitsubishi
Markham Mitsubishi
Penny for your thoughts...
So I went to Markham Mitsubishi because I had a "Periodic Inspection" light and another light go off which I thought was an alignment issue. I brought my car in earlier in the week and got the appointment scheduled for yesterday.
The first thing that happens is the service person basically assumes that my car was completely off warranty until I told him that I came in earlier in the week and spoke with a person who checked and my drive train warranty was still in place. Note, I did not extend my warranty when I bought the car so I found it kind of weird how this "service" person just assumed I was off of it. Ever considered checking before running your mouth? The guy tells me the inspection will be about $110 bucks and will take 2 hours. I was wondering initially why it would take so long but I didn't bother asking since it was my second time at a dealership since I bought the car and the first time I only came in to buy one of those paint touch up pens.
I come back later after lunch and waited until roughly the 2 hour mark and I sit down with the guy. He tells me my ACD pump needs to be replaced which is part of the S-AWC system. It was also going to cost me over $3000 for parts and labour. I asked are there any other issues with the car. He tells me that they only checked for that service light. I then say, "you mean to tell me that I'm paying over $100 bucks so you can tell me what that light is for? you didn't check anything else?" He goes on and scrambles and you can tell whatever is coming out of his mouth at this point was complete BS. But boy was it a pathetic attempt on his part. He scrambles and stutters and says well if the mechanics sees your tread low and so on he would say something. THAT WAS LITERALLY WHAT HE SAID! At that point I didn't bother saying anything because this guy is just really bad at what he does. Even right before me he was dealing with a complaint on the amount of time it took to do an oil change and he handled it pretty poor.
Then I started thinking....they basically took 2 hours to plug my car in to the computer so it can push out a code to tell me what the problem is and probably and most likely didn't actually physically check or test drive my car for problems. Can someone care to run me down what the dealership should actually be doing when they take over $100 bucks to inspect my car? Here is the worst part, when I left, not only was my service light for the ACD pump still on....BUT, MY LIGHT FOR MY "PERIODIC INSPECTION" is still going off. So what? The guy who is lying out of his a$$ and covering himself is telling me there is nothing else going wrong with my car when there could be a chance the mechanic didn't even check the rest of my car outside of that one warning light?
I'm going to find some time and go back this week. Anyone care to give me some insight before I head back in?
As well, I was told this ACD pump is off warranty even though this ACD pump is directly working with the drive train system...thanks mitsubishi....

First of all, how many KM does your car have? Is it pre-owned?
If the car still has low KM and is under the warranty KM then the car might have been flagged as no warranty etc.
Take your car to scarb mitsu or erin mills. They are the only two dealers that i know, that are being good to our club.
If your ASC light is on then all you need right now is a flash; but if it needs to be replaced it should be under warranty if you're under the limit of KM's.
I hope you didn't pay for anything other then the $100. you shouldn't even be paying that $100
Anyways, they are ripping you off. I suggest taking your car to the two dealerships I've mentioned.

Do NOT take your car to Erin Mills!! Those b@stards flagged my car as modified to head office because i had a High flow cat so they basically threw my warranty out the window! I take my car to Dixie now. The mechanic there is one of the only guys that i trust with my car. Last time I was on the hoist he found out that the guy that did my clutch install did not clip in my front drive axle. He reconnected it for me and did not charge him since it was already on the hoist. I have had nothing but good experiences there.
My advice is don’t act like a douche when you go in. If you’re nice to them they are more willing to help you but you would be surprised how many people come in and start yelling and *****ing at them.
As for the pump the problem is corrosion gets inside the pump and seizes it up. Once that happens it needs to be replaced or rebuilt. You can drive fine with a failed pump. In fact you can remove the pump and send it out for repair and still drive around. You will just lose the active yaw system which everyone turns off when they go to the track anyways. I believe the center diff will just be locked. I know of a few guys that blew a pump and just continue to drive like that.
There is a guy that rebuilds the pump for a really decent price considering the stealership wants like $3000 for it.
http://www.acd-tuning.com/
You can buy the rebuild kit for $225 and rebuild it yourself or pay $650 for them to rebuild it. Looking at the job personally I would rather pay as it’s a big job. The corrosion really gets in there and seizes up the bolts etc.

I agree completely.
Erin Mills is decent on the sales side, but the service department is probably the worst in the GTA.
As mentioned by Leo_99, the service manager goes out of his way to be difficult, and the mechanics are woefully lacking in skill. I lost count of how many things they did wrong on my car.
Save yourself the frustration and go to Scarborough or Dixie instead.

I ****ing hate the service department at Markham Mitsu... especially one specific service advisor.
A lot of guys have been giving Scarborough Mitsubishi a shot lately... why don't you give them a try?

Everyone has there own choice and feelings about different dealerships, I had a great time when I was at Scarborough for the meet and they really seemed like they knew what they were doing but by living in Milton Im pretty positive Im not going to drive up to Scarborough for service, not because they dont do great service but its just wayyy out of my way. I go to Erin Mills and Ive never had a problem with them or there service but that being the case *Knock on Wood* haha it all depends where someone feels comfortable going, I know at Erin Mills theres a new guy working the service desk now and hes pretty informative and seems like he knows his ****. But all in all just go where you want, because mitsubishi sure as **** aint building very many new dealerships, seems like they keep closing them down if anything.
All dealerships can change if there is the will to do so, but there is a long list of people burnt by Erin Mills in the past.
