what did you pay for your 5k service?

So, I'm taking my Evo to the dealership tomorrow for its 5k service (as well as inspection and the hood cable service), and it occurred to me that I have no idea what to expect it to cost.

What did you guys wind up paying for your 5k service?

5k service? Maybe its in the Owner's Manual but I've never heard of a 5k being a major service. It should only consist of oil change and rotation of tires, if that. Maybe 15k or 30k service but not 5k.

I dont think it is a major service, but it was in the owners manual to have it done, and the display has been bugging me about it, lol - so I figured I might as well (since I needed the inspection and the hood latch service)

I think I paid about $120. It is just an oil change and tire rotation/balance at 5k IIRC.

Just make sure they are doing what the manual suggests. It seems many dealers recommend service schedules that are different (more expensive) than what the factory asks you to do. Mine tries to get you to come in damn near every 2.5k for random things.

Yeah typically the first service is free.

Isn't it a waste to change fully synthetic oil at 3K miles? My previous car, a BMW 740i Sport, had a recommended oil change interval of 15K-18K miles from its onboard computer. I changed the oil at 7.5K mile intervals instead. That car ran much hotter than the Evo X. I was surprised that the owner manual recommended 5K oil changes.

^^ Possibly because of the turbo charged engine and you need more frequent oil changes?

My dealership told me to go for oil changes every 4700 km (about 2900 miles) and the guy was pretty adamant about being really close to that. He said that some guy in Saskatchewan did his first oil change at about 10000 km (about 6213 miles) and apparently it screwed up his engine cuz he put too much mileage on it before his first oil change, and Mitsubishi wouldn't warranty his car. I dunno if they are just BSing me to go for oil changes more frequently though.

German cars have longer intervals between oil changes because they use a lot more. Our cars only use about 4.5 quarts of oil. I think my brothers 911 turbo uses about twice that.

they have no way of detecting when the first oil change was done, other than you telling them.

when you buy a car the car might have sat on the lot for months, maybe a year. Do you want year old oil in your "brand new" car?

Free mine came with 60k service plan. just for interest the service interval is every 7500km. I change the oil myself once in between these at every 3750 kms. Done 45k. 39k with 371 hp at fly. No issues . all so first check was 1500 km no oil change from dealer just check

All you change your oil a 3k guys need to read your manual, you can either do it at 3k or 5k.

Mitsubishi build the car, and wrote the book on it.
