Big difference b/w 5w and 10w oil?

Well, the difference is 5, not big, but a difference none the less. Its 5w(for winter not weight as commonly thought) when cold and 30 (or 20) when hot. More wear is typically done on cold startup, which is why its better for the oil to be thinner to work its way through all the passages quicker to evenly lubricate things. Newer engines are built to tighter tolerances which is why you see some with lower standard oil then others.
I always provide my own oil.

The dealer SHOULD NOT be putting in 10W-anything oil in your car. If they are, then they are screwing with the durability of your car. Besides all of the important tight tolerances of your engine, the most critical oil-fed part is the turbo. The oil feed passageways are small and the impeller shaft is probably the smallest, most precise moving oil-fed part on the car. Many people will run 0W-XX oil in turbo cars just to safeguard the turbo so that it gets oil quickly on startup.
Furthermore, the car has the MIVEC system which varies oil movement and pressure to properly adjust cam phasing.
Don't let them screw with that stuff...there's a reason it specifies the oil on the oil cap!
