lifter tick with 5w 30 oil

I was using mobile 1 10w30, but since the hot weather is starting to come this way in the midwest. I decided to use 5w instead of 10w. Well, all of a sudden 1,500 miles later the lifter tick started. I only hear it at idle.
well needless to say im draining out the oil and putting the 10w30 mobile 1 oil back in.

5w 30 is better for colder weather.

oops i meant 5w20 not 5w30,
I thought really 5w vs 10w was insignificant in that that is the rating that a pump will flow it at a given temperature rating right?
i thought the 2nd number was more important.
at any rate, im using strickly 10w30 for now on,

You sure it's not injectors ticking?

1st number - weight at cold temp. 2nd - weight at operating temp. Higher number - thicker viscosity.

i use amsoil 0w30 and it runs fine.

no problems.

i think the problem you have is not related to oil yous using.

The thing is if it did that after the car was already warmed up and after a run. I got home and let it idle to cool the oil so i dont cook the turbo and that is when i heard it tick. im not to familiar with the "ticking" phanomanon. I just heard about it. but never had that sound when using 10w30 and its weird how it showed up pretty much immediately after switching to 5w20.

5W-20 is NOT Recommended for the EVO.. It needs to be a 30 wgt and Synthetic.. If you are going to stay with Mobil 1, be sure it is Mobil 1 EP.

If you would like AMSOIL, ATM 10W-30 or our Top of The Line, SSO 0W-30

WIX 57092 Filter, MTG for the tranny and SVG for the TC and Diff..
