Tint
Can anyone recommend a tint that will still keep the inside of the car "bright" but keep the inside cooler in the summer and protect the interior from sun damage?
I live in Phoenix, so I think I need something, but I really like it to be bright inside my car when driving, so I am hesitant to get a regular dark tint. I almost want something is invisible, but gives me the benefit of keeping the car cool and protected from the UV rays.
Update: My friend found this link and said it was pretty good for what I wanted, http://www.huperoptik.com/Automotive.html

And get Tint Protector.
http://www.tintprotector.com
It is a felt you put on the inside of the window seals to prevent tint scratching which will happen if you don't do this.
Mine has been working flawlessly for about a month and a half, but others on the forum had it streak glue and come off even. I can't comment for them, but I split the stripping in half and put felt on both weather strips on the inside seal. Maybe that helped I have no idea though.

Yeah, it is called a sunroof. I think living somewhere like Phoenix you just need to be used to a hot fuggin' interior
I just got done calling all the local tinting places
All prices are for all 4 doors and back window:
$220-240 for ink based film - blocks 45% heat
$280 for metalized film - block 50% heat
$340 for ceramic film - blocks 95% heat
$40 for felt inside of the door
One tint place said that the ceramic does not hold up to the sun for long term, it will gradually get lighter as it ages, mentioned about 6 years would be the max it would look good. They sell lifetime warranty's for discoloring. They only had 60%, 35% and 20% available in ceramic.
They had a cool demo of the ceramic and regular tint, a heat lamp inside a box of glass with the different tints and you could easily feel the heat comming from the light, well on the ceramic coating (35%) you couldn't feel it unless almost touching glass and it was barely noticeable. I'm just not sure it's worth the extra money.

I've never had a demo of ceramic. I assume it was noticably cooler than the other films? I might have to talk to my tint guy about that.
BTW - those prices seem about right for ink based. I haven't talked to my tinter about ceramic but he charges the same for metalized as he does for ink based.

bingo! but not just california tint, pretty much most of socal has similar pricing because it's so competitive here. but california tint's service is second to none.
That is a good point, CA is priced a lot lower. The tinter I've gone to for about 5 years now is top notch. He cuts the film so close to the edge of the glass that it looks like factory smoked windows. Previous to him, I would never know what I would get up here in WA, and sometimes for even more money ($300+!).
