fans stayed running after car was off
i drove home from work today about 45 minutes. got home shut the car off for 10 minutes then got back in it started it ,and drove 30 secs shut it off and the fans were going. ignition was all the way off i double checked. went in 2 minutes came back out fans still going .got in the car started it up fans still going drove 100 yards and they shut off.. i could not duplicate this again... has anyone had this happen ? any ideas or thought? i thought it could have been the car got hot but i checked the little gauge in the middle and it looked fine, and i would think key off, fans off.. it seems fine now anyways

Read the manual: it's a feature. It's like your very own turbo timer. Certain conditions have to be met, but the fans will carry on running for a set period of time. If I drive home and fill up with gas round the corner, then drive the 2 minutes to my house the fans always run.
So, basically, this has been covered a bunch of times before and it's normal behaviour.

Yes very normal.. however I wish they also had an afterun (aux) coolant pump also. Audi/VW uses this on their vehicles. This allows the cooling to be even more efficient after you've shut the car off.

This probably occurs in warmer climates more often, but last summer it happened a few weeks after I bought the car. From the factory they usually fill the car with a 60% coolant to 40% water mix which is good for -65 F temperatures but not as good for heat transfer. I Drained the coolant and used my density gauge to measure where I was at and added distilled water to change it to 40% coolant / 60% water mix (-12 F) and added a bottle of Redline Water Wetter.
Ever since then my car has never ever kept the fan on after shutting down the engine, even after 30 min of hot laps at Watkins Glen. Basically the efficiency of the cooling system keeps it from heat soaking as much and your thermostat lets you get to the warmup 175-190F zone and keep it there. Right after you park it I'm sure it still jumps up a bit since there is no flow but it doesn't creep to the 215-220F area where the panic fan kicks in with the car off.

Well its not really a true turbo timer, it doesn't keep the motor running and circulating oil. So after boosting, you'd probably have to keep the car running for a minute or two before shutting it down so the oil doesn't cook inside the turbo.
