They are pretty safe with the F.A.S.T. Key system. So safe that it doesn't even let you get in sometimes . this is of-course only until the thief gets hold of the electronic key . Believe this has already happened to someone here on evom. But if safety is such a big deal, get a lo-jack.

The everyday thief should have a problem with the FAST key, unless they have yours! I wonder how hard it would be to drag it on a flat bed and drive away?

It's not really a joking matter.

evo is a car with quite a bit attention from car enthusiasts, but not all car enthusiasts can afford the car. I think it really has to depend on which neighborhood you are in. I have to be honest, the people who are interested to my cars usually look pretty young, and those are the people I hate to give the attention to. I think you know what i am saying..

I agree as well. But not just enthusiasts notice the car but a lot of others as well. The exterior is 'loud' and shouts 'Hey look at my wing!'

and +1 on the neighborhood thing, I live in a town of about 2600 people, but right next to a military base, so it is not uncommon to see numerous evo's, NSX's, Maserati's, and numerous other high end cars.

If you really want to know everything about the alarm, just do a search. All of that has been discussed in this forum.

Also, if you truly want to know about safety, visit NHTSA's website or IIHS's website. You can find crash test ratings there.

Personally i think factory alarm is totally fine. Aftermarket alarms can be way too sensitive and annoying. I just hate to go check on the car when anything on the remote (those with car image) shows up. I just don't think graying your hair over a car is a smart idea in general. Good luck with your purchase. You'll know what I mean by "unnecessary attention."
