You shouldn't use the head thingee that you talked about purchasing (and for damn sure not in the crib).

I have a Recaro forward seat for my 3 year old.
My 3 month old has one of those Evenflow rear seat shells that can be set into a stroller.

Once I had to put that stroller into the trunk of the Evo. Talk about JAM. Doesn't fit at all. We take the wifemobile when we need the stroller.

ok - i have both your stokke and a bugaboo chameleon.

For our newborn, we used a Peg Prego "INFANT" car seat with an adapter that attaches to the bugaboo; however, initially we used the bassinet version of the bugaboo quite a lot as the little guy is sleeping most of the time.

After about 2 to 3 months, we attached the infant car seat to the bugaboo and then used that. Not until the little bugger was about 6-7 months or so, did we use the regular stroller version of the bugaboo.

Personally the Stokke is useless until after 1 or so, when they are at least aware of their surrounding - besides it's a pain to take it out of the car and assemble it.

Return the Stokke - our stokke is in the garage collecting dust. My wife is next to me praising the attributes of the stokke, even though she hardly used it. It's all for show - you carry that thing around and people STARE at you and your kid - elevated kid, like he's on a throne, over all the other kids in their "lower" strollers - ha ha ha...

Anyway, I only use my EVO to drop off the first kid to school, never put the stroller in it - we have other bigger cars in the family.

But I think the Recaro is a no-no, better borrow or buy an infant car seat to use for up to 1 year, then use a convertible.

The EVO X is the mommy's ride. We have a phil and teds e3 sport for our twins. It barely fits in the trunk. With the baby bag that is about all you can put in there.

Did you strip out your trunk yet? I took out the spare tire, tools, and styrofoam out of my car, and it about doubled trunk space.

It may not look pretty but its useful. Of course, I did it more for weight savings because I rarely use the trunk, and would never put that spare on my car.

The larger MacLaren strollers fit and are fine for infants. You can stabilize their necks with a neck pillow and they fold close to flat. They also attach the infant set straight from the car without removing the infant.

You do need an infant seat. They actually don't release you from the hospital until you can prove you have one in some states.

Graco Snugride for the win. You could even get a Snap-n-Go stroller and then just take the car seat out for your infant and snap it into the snap-n-go. We have a toddler and twins. We used the snap-n-go when the twins were born and it was awesome, but extremely bulky! I only use my car to transport the toddler, but once I took the twins with both seats. Unfortunately, I could not take the stroller. When we had the twins, it was more about utility over getting the ultimate name brand crap to try to one-up the Jones's

Here is an example of our snap-n-go with two snug rides. As you can see she aint pretty, but got the job done. Also, we had hoards of people ask about this stroller while our current Peg Perregio doesn't even get a second glance (until people notice we have twins).

Check this thread. I asked the same question about 4 months ago. There are pics and stroller suggestions. Will answer all of you questions.
