Battery problem

Hi all, I recently purchased an Evo X and the battery seems to die if I leave the car alone for 2-3 days or so. It has the new red top optima battery, and the dealer installed it immediately after I bought the car.

The first time it died, I jumped the car, drove it around for a while, turned it off and went to lunch, and started it back up again, so it seems like it's not the alternator and the battery is definitely getting charged. I figured I might have just left a light on or something.

The second time it died (about 3 days later), I figured there must be some power leech somewhere, so I jumped it and took it back to the dealer, who couldn't find anything wrong with it (said it's a new battery, couldn't detect any power leech when the car is off, etc), but mentioned something about a door (or hood? I forget) latch TSB that they fixed after I took it there.

Three days later, the battery is dead again, and I figured I'd ask you guys to see if anyone knew anything before I waste another day (and gas) taking it to the dealer again.

Any ideas?

It's the factory replacement if the Duralast or whatever it is that's normally in there goes bad.

Common problem though, not sure what/if there is a fix yet.

That's odd, my original battery was a Panasonic that went bad. It was all black in color. The dealership replaced it with a red and black battery. Did not get a chance to read the brand name.

Has it gotten a full charge after it dies each time? Seems to me you've haven't really charged it yet; I'd try a trickle charger for a night or two. Be careful though, make sure you use one that's designed for gel cells.

Go to the dealership, get the replacement battery under warranty, then get yourself a light weight battery.

Mine Deka battery only weighs 15.5 lb

Just wanted to provide an update:

The dealership found out it was a loose/bad wire with the dome light and that was causing the battery drain. Weird... But they said they fixed it, so I'll be picking it up today. Hopefully now I don't need to jump start my car any time I want to go somewhere. Hooray (?)!

That's wild. I have the OEM battery and I leave the car int eh garage all the time. Just drove it on Monday after leaving it sit for almost 9 days. Fired right up. I'm about to go out there and start it up again for the first time since Monday. I'm sure it'll start right up.
