I remember I saw a giant thread of weighted shift knobs somewhere, and there was at least one aluminum/leather hybrid that might be a good solution for you. It was a Razo, I believe.

Or maybe you can find someone in town that could professionally wrap the one you have in leather for you.

Lots of options...

Hmm... My factory shift knob is 1 1/2 years old and still looks new! I have had my hand slip off the knob but it was my fault for not holding it firmly. I really like the upgraded shift knob and e-brake Mitsubishi offer's but I simply couldn't afford it when I purchased my car! SSS was for more attention getting than the upgraded shift knob and e-brake.

LOL is that a sand paper? It seems more extreme than the thought of ductaping or welding the hand onto the shift knob.

I think an important note is that you don't have to look like you are having a spasm whenever you shift, you can still shift gently while getting perfect shifts. It seems to be the majority of the case whenever I observe such kind of slips.

Another thing to watch for is your hand position on the knob and the shaft and the motion involved between shifts. For example, holding it like a joystick for 1-2 and 2-1 works fine and gives you a very steady grip, but you don't want to hold it such way for 3-4 shift as the risk to misshift to 2 is much greater.

Are you serious? Come on? Move your seat up one 'notch' on your slider...Your hand will be closer and you can then 'hold on'! Geez! Lol!
