Gold Foil on turbo inlet hose and LICP?

Has anyone put the gold reflective heat wrap on these two pieces? On one of the other forums this was tried by IMO it was done in the wrong way.

The UICP was wrapped, trapping in, instead of relasing all the compressed air heat from the turbo. Hindering, instead of helping performance.

But if the turbo inlet hose/cold air intake pipe(depending on application) and LOWER intercooler pipe was wrapped in this one would assume there would be actual horsepower gains. Because you would be protecting two of the most critical parts from performance robbing heat.

I was looking to do this in a few months when I upgraded my FMIC and had the front off the car anyway. I may order this and do the turbo inlet hose in the next few weeks.

So thoughts? Has anyone tried this?

Trapping heat in will help with certain parts as well. Not only does it not let the heat out to heatsoak other things around it, but the hotter air is less dense and flows better.

That's why people ceramic hoat exhaust manifold and wrap downpipes.

Right, but I'm talking about keeping heat out, instead of keeping heat in.

Well one car argue that the engine heat is transfering over to the UICP since it does travel over it.

That is a valid point, but I believe reading somewhere that the compressed air running through the UICP is hotter than the ambient engine bay temp.

I'll run a temp laser gauge over my UICP after a long drive, at a point near the turbo outlet and a central point over the motor and see what the results are. I can say that as the pipe gets closer to the intercooler, the pipe is much cooler to the touch.
