Hi All, so here is my situation. My son is hitting growth spurts and isn't sitting as comfortably in the backseat as he used to. I have 3 cars right now. The G37 coupe, Trans Am, and saturn 4 door. The saturn is getting old. So that leaves me with two two door cars and I'm thinking it may be best to trade in the G for something practical. The trans am is paid free and clear and I really want to keep it for some time. Anyway, it's an 08 with 6mt, premium and nav. It has around 10k in miles. It appraises for $32,875 in the 'good' range on KBB for trade in value. There is no defects with it. I only owe about $8,300. So the difference is about $24,500 in my favor. I could get a new 08 evo GSR for around $27K providing good negotiations as there are plenty of GSRs on mitsu lots. I also could trade in the saturn for maybe an additional 1K or just sell it on my own. So I'm thinking I could basically trade in both the G and the saturn for a evo with minimum out of pocket and no loan. I kept the original exhaust, cats, and intake so that is easily revertible and could load the stock map back on using the cobb ap.

Does this sound like the best course of action?
What would you guys do?
Know anyone interested in buying a G37?
Would I be better off reverting to stock before pulling up on a mitsu lot?

I'm not set in stone with my decision, but at the same time I have a good opportunity to get into an 08 at a good price while not putting myself into a financial problem.

Only problem I have had was the Slave cylinder leaked and left me stranded in the middle of the intersection. I was hot!!. It was repaired under warrenty. No issues with engagement.

I'd also look at a Pontiac G8 GT IF you can find one. I just picked one up about a month ago and LOVE it!! Its big and roomy. You have enough trunk space to fit the kids if they get rowdy. LOL. The back seat has a ton of room, puts out 361 hp 385 trq and returns good MPG's.
Anyway you do this, you can't go wrong.
Good Luck

^I like the G8, but I already own an LS1 T/A so another Pontiac in the garage would be nice, but I want something different. If I were to do that then I'd bite the bullet and go large with a cts-v as there are a good amount on show room floors for decent prices.

Another thing to add is that I think your issue in comparison isn't as common as the transmission issues the X guys have encountered. on the G37 boards people complain more about jerky shifting and the learning curve to get it down more so then warranty issues. I'd be fuming to if I was in your situation. I took my G into the dealer to have them do the first service and I leaked oil all the way home and had a puddle in the garage. I was furious. Stupid techs at the dealer didn't tighten the filter properly.

I've got 2 kids and trying to deal with young children and a 2 door car is for masochists. It's amazing how much leg room is required for them when they are in booster seats. I shopped the 2 dr G's last year and didn't even bother test driving one because of the sloooow moving front seat that leisurely takes its sweet time getting out of the way for rear entry.

The X is THE best combination of performance and passenger room for a driving enthusiast. New STI is worth a look for sure but was more expensive and more than a little ugly.

Good luck making a deal. Trade in values have hit the skids for sure.

I traded in from a b7 audi S4 and i miss the luxury and drivability. A luxury car is a luxury car the evo is just a plain raw sports car be it mr or gsr its no infinity, lexus , benz, bmw, audi etc
Dont get me wrong i love my evo but i do miss the luxury

willizm --- So did you sell the G37S and buy an Evo? I'm actually considering going from the Evo X to a G37S to experience some of the creature comforts, but not sure. I too have kids, so I'm not certain that the small interior of the G would work out. Then again, that small trunk on my Evo isn't working out well either. I've driven both, and both are nice cars for different reasons.

from my point of view yes, get rid of 2 cars get 1, 4 door, just so you know you need a set of winter tires for winter. dont wanna drive this thing thru winter on summer tires

ones mine is paid off, im getting 2nd car something luxury, v8 S4 or e46 m3.
and converting evo to track/weekend fun.
