Takata Harness
Takata Harness
I tried to install the Takata 4 points today but no luck. The bolts come with the seatbelt doesn't fit the existing hole on the rail. I searched and seem like i have to drill the floor. But not sure what kind of mounting plate that I would need to secure them on the floor. Please help Thanks in advance.
PS: Takata is amazing product, look great and feel great.

The car is also used for daily driving so I am not considering putting harness bar anytime soon. Thanks for all the input. Thanks evodave I gonna try to mount it back on next week after bring the car to dealer.
I'm gonna say it again.... research submarining, its not a joke. If you do not install these correctly they will become a danger. Don't be putting these in to look cool.... joking around with your spine isn't funny.
Get the angles correct or sell the harness'

From: somewhere testing various tires, brakes, and suspensions.
And its NOT SAFE for rear passengers. In an accident they will hit the bar.
Takata are not DOT, you cannot wear them on the street. Search proper installation on here. This has been discussed.
Schroth harnesses are DOT, they have a stitched overlap section that will rip in an accident allowing the driver to lean forward. Takata does not have that. Schroth also have the anti-submarining lower section. Again, Takata does not.

Thanks all. I am putting this idea on hold for now since it winter anyway no more track day. I will continue research for it, if anyone installed one on their let me know what size of the bolts that would fit the stock holes seat belts thanks

I have to reiterate what has been said here. Takata's are nice belts, but they are not DOT rated or approved. There are huge safety risks at play here with what you are contemplating. Please research "submarining" it might save your spine. Since this is a DD you have to do a LOT of work if you want to keep the harness system and your overall safety of you or any passengers (how would you like to get sued by one of your passenger's family because their child's head hit a harness bar and rendered them a vegetable?)
You have a couple of options:
1) Keep the Takatas, get a harness bar and set up your harness properly for events. AMS is right down the street, go visit there and get their feedback if you like. Most harness bars are easy install and removal so you can still keep the functionality of the the back seat for passengers if need be while having the ability to drop in the bar for events. Take off the harness bar and use the OEM belt for DD use. Most Sparco bars retain the ability to mount your oem belt in stock locations while keeping the brackets in place for the harness.
2) Sell the takatas and get a set of Scroth 4 pt, at least it is DOT approved. I still highly suggest a harness bar as well.
I run option #1, but I take safety seriously and also run a 6 point and Recaro Pole Positions. I should be caged out by now, but I still have one more winter to DD the car. This summer the cage will be put in.

good info from all of you! so i got a set of takatas also.. no one rides in tha back ever.. so im wondering if i can hook tha shoulder straps to the lower car seat anchors instead of using the eye bolts? is that legal.. safe.. approved.. or am i jus thinkn crazy? please give ur opinion.. thx prior!
holy crap...rather than just reading about Takata harnesses, why don't you read the whole damn post?
simply put, Schroth is DOT approved if you care any much about safety. Takata is NOT DOT approved...
and for the OP, i wouldn't suggest to mount your harness anywhere around the floorboard. You're best bet is to actually go out and find a few bolts that wud make it fit the stock location. If not, then sell what you have now and buy racing harnesses that are DOT approved...in the event you do get into a collision (heaven forbid), what matters more: your life or the bling that just broke your back?
the answer is obvious.....but regardless, its always your choice...im just tryin to point you in the logically better path
