Here is what is underneath the bumper cover....looks like you will probably need some sheet metal work as well.

I hope it's not too much, if any. I don't want to have to deal with frame damage.

Depending on what part of the exhaust will be replaced it maybe even be cheaper to go with a aftermarket exhaust and a nice one at that. For example if you will need to replace the catback part only OEM will cost you about 600 dollars for that you can buy a Greddy catback. Just an idea here :https://www.mitsubishiparts.com/oe_parts_catalog.html
That's kind of what I'm hoping. I just want to find a nice aftermarket exhaust that is about the same or cheaper than OEM.

JDM Rear Yo!!!
I think that's asking too much

Thanks for the best wishes, guys. I'll come back and update for sure once I get word from the insurance company. I sure hope everything turns out ok. I'm not going to get stupid with the insurance trying to get aftermarket parts. If I can, fine, if not I just want my car fixed.

I was also rear ended a couple months, ago, and had the diffuser and the entire back bumper pieces replaced. Just for labor and replacement, repainting, sanding, and labor of those two pieces, the tab came out to around $1600. You're probably looking at around $2500 worth of damages for OEM diffuser, back bumper, and exhaust.

Lol, I met him that night after he hit me.

After talking to the adjuster and the shop it seems it won't be too much of a headache. The insurance is going to be writing me a check to pay the shop. Apparently as long as I don't stray too far from the parts that they quoted, I can pretty much do what I want and paying the difference is an option. I could do a JDM rear if I wanted, technically, but no.

Oh, they also found a little frame damage it looks minor but nothing is for sure until the bumper cover can be removed.

Any suggestions for a nice aftermarket exhaust muffler section between the $350-$400 range? or up to 500?

It's funny because I went by the shop where his Sti is and was introduced as "They guy he hit." Everyone loved the Evo at the shop, too.

JDM rear looks exactly the same as the USDM rear.
