Noise is an issue, but not a deal breaker.

But don't get an Evo X GSR if you plan on doing a lot of highway driving. The lack of a 6th gear means your RPM at MPH will be +3500.

9752 miles since 3/09 much of it as a DD. I cart two kids and an elderly grandpa around all the time and it is always a great car to drive.

lots of clearance for speed bumps, ride seems stiff in a good way, and handles bumps well and is a good mix between a sports car and a luxury car, but more leaning to the sports car

sports car ............|...................... Luxury car

I am goind to DD it but I expect to make it much faster then you will. With the access port you can free up about 20-50 HP.

With just an intake and cat back I was able to run a 13.2 @ 105 w/ 2.0 60 foot, so they are plenty fast, even with the extra weight.

Oh and yea, 5th gear at 80 MPH is like 4000 rpms. that sucks. I had a 5 speed cobalt SS before this car, and I was well below that at 85. Gearing is definately for 100% power in this car.

I like the cobalt cause I didnt even have to shift into 4th gear until 108 MPH, and on the evo, I am shifting into 5th at that speed. (track experience)

will see a bit of rain.
Evo X love the Rain and bad weather conditions you can corner it 50 m/h in wet street without worries at all becouse the stiky fat tires, AWD and all the electronic controls
The stock Advans become total crap in the cold + rain, though. FYI.

Yes high running cost i meant oil change (3k miles), tires and gas but well it's a sports car.

Turning radius is just funny, sometimes using handbrake to rotate .

Unfortuantely the back seat dont fold, so the trunk will be just tiny. Kind of 1 big suitcase...

Maybe im a bit biased, i used my GSR for a year in CA and the highway speed noise wasnt that annoying. Now i've moved back to Europe and we travel here much faster therefore evo sits in the garage most of the time.

Again, great car but definetly not a dd (at least not for me, oh well i guess its me getting old haha).

I daily drive mine. I think it's excellent. At stock ride height, i clear almost everything and I live in a state where the roads are NOT in the greatest condition. You get used to the highway high rpm. Except, the gas mileage sucks. City mileage is just plain garbage, like 15mpg. And, yes, the *** end will kick out with some power oversteer. At least mine does with bolt-ons and a tune.

I DD my gsr from home to work, to school, back to work, then to home everyday. At stock height w/ aero kit, I have yet scratched anything (knock on wood). I plan to lower with swifts. Road noise is tolerable; loud exhaust system would be more annoying. I enjoy shifting and pressing the third pedal so gsr was for me.

- almost no trunk space
- parking/city manouvers
- high running cost when using as dd

Therefore if you already have a weekend toy i would recommend going a different path (used BMW 1/3 series for example).
+1
but idk if bimmer 'll be cheaper in long shot...it's good when it's under warranty then...$$$$$

I am sure the X is better for a DD than the VII-IX coz its more of a civilized car. That's why I am going to wait to get an X for the same purpose.

You could just swap trunks. I've seen alot of people on here doing that from going to the small wing to the big one.

I did (Hushmat, not Dynamat) and posted some results on this thread...

I commute about 90 miles round-trip at least twice per week. And dropping the noise even 2dB was worth it. The drone above 80mph was headache-inducing over long periods (in my opinion). For me, The 30 pounds I added was the difference between keeping the car and selling it.

Now - long distances at high speeds are no longer a problem...

I got it for a daily driver. It's actually a really nice daily driver. It is comfortable and having something fun to drive make it even more fun. Gas mileage is averaging 21mpg overall, thoguh I can't wait to get the Cobb chip to get better gas mileage when they have the chip out for the 2010. Highway RPMS seem to hover around 3200rpms in fifth. A taller final drive ration would be nice.
