X GSR as a DD?

Selling my DD and trading in the IX, not sure what to get but maybe the X GSR. IX was a garage queen with occasional track days, but I built a race car so no need for anything like that anymore. And it just felt too fragile to DD it.

Ok, so anyone who DDs an X GSR, how does it hold up to regular use? It will live outdoors and it doesn't snow here, but will see a bit of rain. Reliability? I would probably chip it but that is it for mods, my IX is still stock. How does it deal with speed bumps and steep driveways? The IX would scrape the plastic air dam everywhere, is the X about the same?

Any other just general stuff I should know?

This is not a X vs IX thread, IX is going bye-bye no matter what I get. I love it, but it is not something I can DD even if I wanted to given where I work. X blends in a little better

Oh, and how similar does it really feel to RWD when it is pushed? Can you hang the *** out? I am going to go test drive one but I doubt they will let me wrestle it around too much. And I am sure it will see a few track days just for ****s and giggles plus some time in some private salt flats

why not? mine is DD and put about 70 miles round trip. i think MR would be good for DD (auto and more sound absorbing materials). it is high enough to clear everything. i think it could even clear the parking concrete blocks.

I don't clear crap with my MR + aero kit. Not sure how big of a difference it is without the kit.

The MR is a GREAT DD. I leave it in paddle mode 99% of the time and I haven't missed a clutch pedal at all. It is much different than a normal automatic. It's not really an automatic, it's more of a manual transmission with an electronic clutch. Some people are just too set in their ways to consider it though.

Either way, a GSR would be great as well. It has less sound deadening material and the seats are a little less comfortable imo. But it's a great car regardless. I recommend the X over the IX and VIII any day. I loved my VIII but it was far from being a DD.

Cool, probably not going to go with an MR again if I get an X, nor the areo kit, but good to see people are actually driving them

I have the aero kit and also use my GSR as a DD. Stay away from steep hills and the kit doesn't drag. Just be a little more cautious. The X holds up great as a DD, I've had no real issues with the GSR, I've also taken vacations with the X and once again it was super comfortable there and back. It shifts a little rough from 1st to second until the fluids start working and the paint is frail but overall I'd trust the car to go to California ( I live in Ohio) and back with no qualms! In other words I wouldn't trade my car for any other make nor model, regardless of price or specs!

Oh snap, just looked at the Mitsu webpage. Does anyone know if the Touring wing uses the same mounting holes as the GSR wing? I rather not have another shopping cart wing

They don't. the GSR wing is mounted more towards the front of the car on the trunk.

Mine serves as DD just fine. It does develop creaks/rattles from more frequent use and you should also switch to all season tires.

27,600 miles as a DD. Car is stock minus test pipe and tune....love it.

High rpm's on highway could be irritating for some.

I'm thinking about buying a beater to replace my GSR as a DD, but it is fun to drive, if a bit loud compared to a normal car. The cost per mile is still evo high though.

the upside is it does have a rear wheel drive tendency with the stability of awd, enough ground clearance and a back seat big enough for real people...oh yeah,it is a little more stealth and not a huge cop magnet.
