Yeah, as stated you'll be fine if you just take it easy till you get through this tank...

Haha just double check next time...

Why Why do people freak the ____ out when something other that 91-93 gets put in their tank? I went on a trip to Denver from Dallas left Denver for KC and back to Dallas all on 87. Yes I tuned my car on 93 and E85.

Just because you did it once doesn't mean it wasn't bad for it. Did you remove the pistons, rods, rings and crank and inspect them?

Why would I take my engine apart? I built my own engine. Don't believe me? Ask goofygrin, mrMTB and rfielder. My motor is 9:1 and CAN run 13psi on 87. Your car can as well as everyone else. Octane just limits the amount of boost and timing your engine can take before it starts knocking. It doesn't prevent the engine from running.

This is the exact right thing to do.

Don't boost on your custom tuned 93 map if you have almost 30% 87 in the tank, you'll get right at 91 octane with 10 gals of 93 and 4 of 87. You'll see some knocksum, and there's no point to flog it until you restore it to full 93.

You'd take your engine apart to see the damage it could have done. I guarantee that if you put 87 octane in there ONLY, and you continued you hit boost on a regular basis, the pre detonation would kill your rods, pistons or rings. I asked if you took your engine apart to prove that running 87 wasn't bad.

On my tune I run 28psi. 87 octane would kill it for sure.

Just keep it out of boost until you fill up next and you'll be fine.

Just pour a bottle of octane booster on the tank if you are worried about it... no big deal.

most octane boosters are over priced and provide minimal impact.
for cheap proven results use xylene or toluene.
