Values Converging?
Values Converging?
I'm noticing quite a few used 2008's with very few miles trading at or below IX values? Even on this site? What are the thoughts on this? I'm in the market for a IX but the X's are tempting. I've driven both and like both. The IX is more raw I suppose, is that causing the value dips in the X?
Sorry, I meant private party sales of IX's vs. private party X's on this site. Asking prices. Most of the IX MR's are in the 24-25 range as are the X GSR's. SE's are even more of course. I watched that Phantom Black X GSR go for price drop after price drop to 24K and then get traded in. Seems so wrong.
Couple things are at work here:
1) Many people believe the IX to be the "last true Evo" and that has helped to hold its value a little better than the average car. I'm not saying they are right (I think the X is every bit an Evo and I've owned both the IX and the X), but the reality is that it is a prevailing attitude that many Evo enthusiasts hold.
2) The X has been devalued because of the heavy discounts Mitsu offered to clear them off dealer lots. Some people (me included) were able to get $9k off MSRP. Some got a little more. Most got less, but still got a significant discount.
