Passenger side door crashed

Hey guys,

long story short, I was being dumb in the rain, the car slid and I hit a pole on the passenger front door. The door is done and so is the side view mirror as well as the side skirt other than that the rest of the car is good. However the curtain air bags did deploy along with the side airbag within the seat.

My car won't be towed to the autobody until monday morning but something's been bugging me about what they will replace. Obviously it would be the parts listed above (door, mirror, airbags and side skirts)

What I really want to know is will they be replacing the recaro seat since the air bag deployed and tore the seat seems. Any input you guys can give would be great.

- Jose

Whenever I've seen seat airbags go off, they get replaced. What I'd be more worried about is seeing if there's any damage done to your floor.. pull up the carpet and make sure nothing is crumpled.

Well yeah i'm expecting repair costs to be fairly high. As for the carpet/frame of the car there's really no visible damage to that the side skirt fell off and everything under it looks straight and the dent in the door did not extend far enough in to damage the roof or lining above the door frame.

Just to get things straight I hit the pole and the car did not wrap around the pole, it just really damaged the front door.

You guys don't think that this will make for the car to be declared a total wreck do you?

It could be totaled if airbags went off. It all depends. The door being jarred that hard could have bent the b-pillar or hinge areas which would not be worth the time/cost/effort to repair. Judging by what you tell us, I've seen vehicles damaged in similar fashion to what you're saying be >$15k in damage.. they just total them. Replacing the air bags and all the things that the airbags themselves damage is very expensive, let alone the other physical damage as a direct result from the accident.
