Trade in
keep making payments on the ralliart. its still a good car. enjoy it bit longer and you'll be in a better place down the line. the 08 MR's aren't going to do anything but drop in price even more. You lost your depreciation already, so time is on your side.
You can get a brand new GSR for $32k and 0% financing out the door.. plus, you get the true feel of the car through the manual transmission. If you have a disability like you're missing a leg (or if you're just lazy), the auto trans in the MR is a good choice.
As people have said, the dealerships sometimes get these cars in with low miles and advertise them as "almost new", but they most likely have been modded and put back to stock. I used to work at car dealerships, and I would see this all the time with younger kids who couldn't afford the car... they'd rag on it and mod it, then sell it back with low miles because they ran out of money to make payments.
But, my first car I learned to drive a stick on was a base model Lancer.. it took a whole 5 minutes to become an expert. The Evo X GSR has just a little bit stiffer clutch pedal, but it feels almost the same, so learning would be roughly the same.

I rest my case. The OP could find a X turbo, suspension, rims, wings, fmic, ...all kinds of stock X parts for 1/3rd of what buying new would cost. If money is even remotely a factor then modding an RA is a ton cheaper. It also has the 'sleeper' thing going for it. hehe.
Never had a chance to hear whether you have already fully paid for the RA. If you have, then you will encounter some loss after a trade in, but you will have a car that you want in an EVO. If you are financing the RA, then you'll have to see how much "upside down" you will be with trade in of the RA and purchase of the EVO. Good luck with the purchase...and you'll enjoy the ride after the switch over. Although some a questionable about the MR's tranny with mods, you should be okay; extensive mods may require upgraded tranny parts...

I have removed the following OEM parts from my 2010 Evo X and put them up for sale:
front mount intercooler
upper ic pipe
lower ic pipe
down pipe
catback exhaust
intake
bov
boost solenoid
shocks
springs
cam shafts
SSS wing
2010 side skirts
These are just off my own car (after 5 weeks of ownership). Im 100% positive you will find alot more Evo X parts being sold on this forum. This car has been out for 2 years. I'd keep your current car and mod it up!

I wanted a Evo IX back in 2008 when i bought my X...
the main reason i stuck with a brand new X over a used IX? The fact that we drive a high performance turbo-charged rally machine...
for a used car if break in is not properly followed it could lead to something bad, if they drove it like they stole it it could be bad...etc etc etc... toooo many factors that could make it where ur invested in a 30k car that keeps breaking down.
or u could learn how to drive stick and buy a GSR from southcoast mitsubishi for hellla cheap

it's up to you what youre gonna do, so if money is not an issue, and you want it, go for it. they will give you 20k or less for the ralliart, roll over what you owe onto the evo, then you will make $700 a month payments. it may turn out different, but that is a pretty safe scenario to work with. to be honest, you have a turbo, awd vehicle already. play with that for a while.

Just for a point, my 2008 evo is worth $22,000 trade-in here locally (virginia) w/ 30k miles and in great shape. Thats severe depreciation from $36,500. It was $24,500 last year w/ 20k miles. So hopefully you can get all you can from the ralliart if you take that approach, but once you're in you're in beacuse you'll be hardpressed to get your money back if you wanted to trade the evo back in. However, it's pretty much already done its depreciating. If anything try to sell your ralliart in the private market and stay away from dealer-trade-in. Its death.

I traded in a 3 year old car with 14,300miles on the clock. traded it in for 15,9xx and owed right at 10k on it. (Acura rsx-s) Got a GSR with SSS and Aero package.. got it for 30k...I drove 9hours to get it, but it was def a fun ride. NC to Ohio and Back in the same day. The girl that went with me told me once we got in to va that she couldnt drive stick...
