BOV - why?
A bypass valve is part of owning a turbo car not a BOV. Most of the time the only reason people want to vent to atmosphere is for rice reasons.
vrooooooom phshshsshsh
I love that sound! I would never goes as far as installing an inferior bov or venting to ATMO (unless I was S.D) but with a recirced type S and open element you can hear it great and no bad idle

Apples to oranges. People upgrade exhausts on turbocharged cars for power and sound is a byproduct. Some people want/need their aftermarket exhaust to be as quiet as possible and others don't care and can live with or like it loud. That is why people choose exhausts based on sound.

People upgrade to an aftermarket BOV because the stock one leaks at higher boost levels. Just like an exhaust, it gets replaced for performance reasons/power output with sound as a byproduct. Some people like it to be quiet and recirculated and others like it louder and vented. After the performance aspect, the sound is based on personal preference.
VTA BOV on an Evo X has no problems, so that's not the issue.
