Question Help! - What's my problem?

Ok so a few months ago I had to take my Evo to the stealership for the following recalls:

#C0906U01 - SRS Front Impact Sensors

#C0904W - Fuel Return Pipe Replacement

Soon after these were performed the car would no longer pull like before. To be specific, anytime the car was pushed above 4K, it would just rev till about 6K without accelerating. Unfortunately the snow hit and the car was stored for the winter. Fast forward 4-5 months, took it out and everything was fine the first day.

However, today the car was sputtering like crazy! Getting it to take off in first gear is a chore, the car just revs up to 3-4K before actually moving; same thing happens after every gear change. Also, when in idle, the car barely stays at 1K and sounds like it's going to shut down.

So far, I've checked the following:

Vacuum hoses: I've seen a few threads with this issues so I thought I'd take a look at them. Unfortunately, mine were all on tight and thus not the source of my problem.

Fuel relay: I still have the black one! Could this be the problem? I swapped it with the high beam relay as seen in another thread here but still nothing. BTW, relay M works when placed in place of the high beam relay (G?... forgot).

Wideband: reads higher than normal, even at WOT it reads at 11.x but slowly climbs up.

Boost: This confuses me, it either reads something along the lines of 4-10, 18-20, or nothing at all while cruising. (1-3, 11-17 and 21+ are non-existant)

Any help is greatly appreciated, help me get back on the road!

PLEASE!!!

in gear, with your clutch out, if you press on the gas your rpms increase without accelerating? do you have a MR or GSR?

if you have a GSR your clutch is gone

Your clutch is gone. It was gone even before you stored the car for the winter.

Time for the SSP master cylinder and an awesome clutch.. Do not waste your time with just a new clutch as the cheapo plastic cylinder mitsu put in will crack with any aftermarket clutch.

Good luck!

You still need to change out that relay with the blue ones. And by the sounds of it your clutch is gone but the way your AFR is climbing in a pull is your car running lean which is common when running a black relay. Swap it for the blue....here's the link

Yes, it's a GSR.

Is it normal for the clutch to go out that quickly? I mean, before going to the stealership it was driving perfectly and then it went to sh*t.

Looks like I have to start researching clutches and thanks for the advice on the SSP MC.

One more thing, which really are we supposed to go with? Some say green and some say blue... which is it?

A big THANKS to everyone!

Blue!! Replace the relay and then drive it again and see what happens. Does sound like a clutch but you never know.

my clutch lasted 15k with abuse. others have had much less and claim no abuse.

blue are the newest relays and SSP has a deal right now to get all new ones for a good price.

This one has 5,6XX miles and hasn't been abused too much. Still seems kinda short to me.

Thanks, looks like SSP has most of what I need

yeah mitsu still hasn't fixed the problem. Everyone should be running the blue relay.

Where is the blue dancing emote? lol

Change the relay, and test again. You can even swap the relay for the horn or really any other identical black one and see if it helps. $10 part is easy to replace.

Then test again to see if the clutch has issues too.

And yes, guys are dumping their clutches after only 2 launches.

I made it hard on my clutch at times and I had no issues, I was close to 20k before I parted with the X.
