Great Information, Even for the 2010 MR Touring, there is also no felt on the inside. I'll be soon getting my tint so this info came just in time. Thanks!

Have 3m Scratch-less tint and ...it still scratched after 1 week. Only place it scratched at the top where the windows close. Bringing it in for replacement, 3m has a 2 yr. scratch-less warranty.

Must be some cheap *** tint out there. I have tint on my 2010 Evo X, and didnt install any liners or anything. I have put my windows up and down many times, and have no scratches, not on the fronts or the rears. Must be some really bad quality tint out there to get scratched up that easily.

The shop I had put on my tink was Suntek and ive had this on my last 3 cars, with no scratch issues.

I'm having my installer put the SunTek Carbon (not the XP version) put on mine tomorrow. Will bring up the liner scratching issue with him and see what he says.

EDIT: Just spoke to him and he says it would be an additional 150 for the install of the felt. Is that too much? Can I do this myself?

150 is way too much for felt install. Do it yourself in 1-2 hours. Just don't put the felt too close to the edge...several of us are getting moleskin glue all over the window. It's melting and sticking to the window when you roll it down. My guess is that installing it not so close to the edge might help a little bit in keeping glue from getting on the tint.

I called for a quote for my windows to be tinted at a really good tint place..they called me back and said they WOULD NOT install the tint unless they were allowed to remove the door panels which meant i would have to pay more. The guy explained that he tinted X's before and learned that he would have to remove the door panels to do the tint or the tint would get scratched.

I talked him down to a 100 (25 per door) which I though was reasonable. I'll be getting the car back in 2 more hours, I hope it looks awesome. I'll be posting up a review of the installer and the tint brand eventually in the show n shine section.

Wow!! that guy is attempting to shaft you. You can do it yourself, or pay me $50.00 and I'll do it for you.

Still too much. If you saw how easy it is. You would be mad that he's charging you that much.

Here are the steps involved.
1) Take off door panel (2 screws) and about 6 plastic fasteners (very easy).
2) Take off the window guide rail (comes off without tools also very easy)
3) Cut and apply felt to rail.
4) Put everything back
5) Rinse and repeat for the other doors.

Some people get a quality tint and get no scratches without moleskin. Some people get a quality tint and get scratches without moleskin. Some people use quality tint and get no scratches with moleskin. Some people use moleskin and end up with moleskin glue all over their new tint.

I wanted to get a tint until I realized how complicated it is.

la la la la la la la la la, I can't hear you, la la la la la la la la la la la

Already paid for and received vehicle.

If anybody else wants to chime in about how I overpaid, I'm gonna start singing again. I'm in denial.

3) Cut felt
4) Sand the contact side of rubber lightly with 2000 grit
5) Clean lightly sanded area with rubbing alcohol or alcohol prep pads
6) Apply felt with UNCUT side up, so your jagged cut parts face downwards, leave about 1mm between the felt edge and the rubber edge
7) Heat the installed felt with a hair dryer or heat gun to melt the glue, then press it on again except more firmly
8) Put everything back
9) Rinse and repeat for the other doors.
10) Roll up the windows and don't use for at least one full day
Edited with what I did and how I managed to keep from having any glue streak on my windows. Pain in the *** for sure, but I'm extremely confident my money will not have to be REINVESTED into tints.

+1 the Tint Protector is the only felt that will last. The cheap moleskin falls off.

Easy install and has lasted for 5+ years on my two cars.
