Already paid for and received vehicle.

If anybody else wants to chime in about how I overpaid, I'm gonna start singing again. I'm in denial.

im not sure what the dealer did to mine, but after they tinted the windows the felt strip pieces came off of all four windows after rolling them up and down a few times. I'm assuming they added them and they just did not stay. Glue was all over my windows but came off easy with goo gone. no scratches yet without the felt strips in.

Easy install and has lasted for 5+ years on my two cars.
It's all in the install. A little goo gone is better than having to pay $200 to re-tint every year.

I've never had a problem with glue. It's all in how you apply the felt. Lots of tint shops use SUPER cheap moleskin. It glues everything up.

As far a I know Tint Protector is the only manufacture of felt that is made for auto's. They use acrylic glue.

I think its all in the film they use, I have had my tint for a while now. I roll the windows up and down all the time and I have no scratches and use no mole skin at all.

Monkey,

I don't think it matters what brand tint you use. If you take a rock and rub it repeatedly against any surface after a while it's going to etch in and start to scratch.

Your tint will start to look like this on the inside.

It's just a matter of time.

^^maybe it is a matter of time, I was just giving my input. I do believe that cheap film will scratch faster.

This ****'s a major PITA. It's to the point where I don't think I'll ever tint any of my cars that don't come factory with felt installed.

I took so much time and care and patience when installing my official tintprotector.com Moleskin felt strips, I used a hair dryer to heat them up after they were on then pressed them down even more while hot... I reinstalled and let the car sit for a day, rolled up the windows after a day and didn't roll the windows back down for a week...

Still glue streaks.

As others have pointed out - glue is better than scratches.

I heard the glue stops after a while.

Maybe it's better to wrap the felt around the weather strip? This way it can't lift up....?

Or maybe place the whole 1 inch wide strip across both of the blades instead of cutting it in half? Has anyone done this?

I installed the moleskin from tint protector about a month ago.

The install wasnt to hard. It just involved a lot of patience. I ended up cutting the moleskin in half and applied it about 1mm away from the top of both the blades. After install was done, I left my windows up for a day and that was it. I didnt have any glue residue on my windows either.

I have the moleskins installed and get glue streaks on 2 of my windows. It has been less and less though as time has moved on. Which makes sense since everytime glue gets on your windows, there is less glue on the moleskin to stick to your windows next time.

+1

It's been 6 months with the Tint Protector kit on the Lancer and no glue or scratches. It's all about the install.

I have a 2010 evo (bought at the end of 2010) and I went to get some tint done. The shop told me that they were aware of this issue and would install "felts" on either side for 30$ extra. Turns out when they opened up the doors the felts were already there from the factory. I have zero scratches on my tint. So Im guessing they eventually addressed the issue late in the 2010 model year.

That's interesting. I'll be getting a 2011 soon, and I hope that is indeed the case that felts come pre-installed. I'll post up when I find out.
