New Evo MR Owner
Congrats on your purchase. I picked mine up last December.
Regarding the hesitation when stepping on the gas pedal from a dead stop, sure there is a momentary lag before the car actually gets going, but you'll learn to drive around it. Also, you may want to make sure the front strut tower brace is bolted nice and tight. My car started exhibiting a suspension clunk coming from the top of the struts, and after checking it out, i realized that the tower brace bolts holding it to the center bracket attached to the firewall were not torqued down enough.
Why oh why did
decide to put balance weights on the outside of those nice BBS wheels?

Welcome to the club!
My 08 has that hesitation and I too have learned to drive around it. It's kinda second nature for me to prime the pedal before accelerating from a dead stop nowadays. Kinda messes me up when I drive other cars though =)

1) Get a tune. The extra ~13% power increase is quite noticeable.
2) Don't judge the car's performance when in Normal Auto. In this mode it is quite a sluggish vehicle. The car comes alive in Sport Auto or paddle mode.
3) Be prepared for some body roll when driving "vigorously".
Guys need help on this matter. I have a 2008 Evo X MR it has 4098 miles on it. ON the technical side I don't know much about cars especially the Evo, I got this car brand new upon the advice of my friend and constant bickering of my then 10 yr old son, and fresh from showroom floor, it's almost 1 yr and 4mos old. on Advice of my friend 5 mos ago we Installed a K&N typhoon intake and bought me some cheap catback by Tsudo no ecu flash or any more add ons. Last Saturday at Dallas North tollway I switched in to Sports mode and just went with the pedal, I really am not sure how fast I was but my Garmin registered 165 miles top speed, and my Iphone app gauge registered 160.6mph. My glimpse on the tach on the car was above 6000RPM. Can this car really do this speed??? or is this bad for it because of no upgrades or flashes??? All I can remember is that its about 2AM and the 2 cars seemed to stop while my car is speeding up....I got scared to be honest with you all coz I'm not a racer kind of guy, It's just that when I was entering the tollway a hatchback subaru kept on tailing me at times cut me several times....so I speed up, by the way he was nowhere to be found after I hit that gas. Kindly give me any advice if what I did was safe for the car and engine without mods, and did I reallyt hit that speed??? is there a way my car registers the top speed??? I'm a very, very newbie in this stuff. any advice and help will do.
tnx

First, edit your post so it doesn't have street racing in it... or it will be deleted...
Second, some intakes lean out the car. This could get dangerous without a tune and the Blue Fuel Pump relay replacement (you need to do this regardless, it's $15).
Go do yourself a favor and get a tune.
