You can uninstall the Cobb AP and it copies the ROM back to the state when it was installed.

Don't do it. At 2k RPM your have zero boost and in essence you're driving a small 2 liter motor in a heavy 3.5k pound chassis. It's even worse than a regular lancer because you have a very low compression-ratio motor, too.

Happens to me too.....I'd hate to disagree with Tephra but I'm almost positive that a tune will not help. I've had all TSB's done with no help. I think it may have to do with the MAF sensor. at 2000 rpm in 5th gear i think the MAF gets all messed up because of low air flow. Honestly....it shouldn't happen but I've learned just to downshift to 4th when i think its going to happen. Are you running the stock air box or an aftermarket? sometimes when the MAF is relocated can cause this too i think. Although i think i remember it happening even before getting my AEM box. hope this helps a little.

I just bought the car a couple weeks ago, so everything is stock. I'm thinking about buying the Cobb AP. I have read nothing but excellent reviews about it. I am also going to buy a drop in air filter. Lets hope something fixes it.

you're getting a lot of posts about different things. your problem is driving at such low rpms. 3k and above is where your power is and the motor is happy.

That.

I don't think ANYONE'S Evo X would like 2000RPM @ 50MPH + giving it throttle. It's just the worse case scenario for it.

I get the exact same thing. If I am driving at about 2000 RPMs in 5th and give it just a little bit of gas and then back off, I get that flutter. It was even worse with an aftermarket BOV set to 50/50. I had assumed the issue was compressor surge from the low amount of air unable to fully open the BOV in time. It got worse as I tightened the spring in the BOV (which means it requires more pressure to open), which backed up my assumption.

As other have said just don't drive in 5th at that low RPM.

Its really just a cruising speed ya know? I just drove it and it happened around 2700 RPMs. Thats a low rpm but its no where near stalling it. Some people have said that a dealer reflash solved it but others said it didn't. One person said that it never did it until they had the reflash done at the dealer.

I have the same issue I noticed it when I first got the car but tossed it up to hitting a pot whole and the tires regrabbing or something. But I agree I normally cruise at about 2500 rpms doing about 50-55mph driving home from work

5th gear around 2k rpms is bogging it. if ur trying to save gas just drop a gear and don't hit boost (nice and light on the gas pedal, build rpms slowly).

I have the AP with a stage 1 flash. I used to do the same and get the studder at 2k rpms but I changed my driving style since so I can't say for sure if it was the cobb or the driving style, but i'm sure it's mostly driving style. as long as u reflash to stock and then unmarry the cobb from the car, mitsu wont be able to tell anything happened.

I thought i also had a flutter while in 5th gear but realized it was the shifter cable in 5th gear it rattles and sounds like a flutter, next time your driving in 5th gear going 50+ mph hold the shift knob sturdy and see if it still happens.

Yea it still does it. Today i was driving it with the air conditioner in MAX and it really didnt do it. It did it once but it wasnt as bad as when the air conditioner is off. You would think if it was just how the motor ran at low rpms it would be even worse with the air conditioner on and it would also do it in other gears. It doesnt do it in any other gear either.

I've had the same issue on my 08 GSR since the day I picked it up. The good ole' 5th gear flutter I like to call it. I had the dealership look at it and I even reproduced it for them but there's nothing they can do. Even after the two flashes the car still does it but it's more of annoyance at this point rather than a serious issue. I think the car just needs a good tune.
