The same thing would happen if you were doing 25 mph in 4th...you're lugging the motor. You are at to high of a gear for the speed.

I don't know if this is the solution to that problem but this is my experience with that. When I first got my car the dealer filled it up with cheap 92 octane Super America gas. Within that first week I noticed that problem. Well not knowing any better I keep using that brand until the BP by my house started carrying 93 octane. Well I switched brands and within a month the problem just went away. I don' t know if its because of the brand or octane rating but one time I was low on gas and there was no BP around so I went to an SA instead. Big mistake because the problem came back. It took another month of using BP for it to go away again. Now I could be going 40 mph in 5th and stepping on the gas with no hesitation at all. Plus the turbo seems to kick in more violently now. But like I said, I don't know if its a solution but all you EVO X owners using BP can comment on that if you want. Hope this helps.Oh by the way, I don't work for BP in case anyone was wondering.

I dont really get gas at BP i get it at country fair but she has never seen anything but 93 in it.

Plan:b - The car does not spudder in any other gear other than 5th. I tried it to see if that was the case. I just bought a HKS Air filter and not it does it even worse.

Guys, there is nothing to fix or cure here. It's most likely a small amount of compressor surge due to the low RPMs (not a lot of pressure), and the partial throttle (BOV partially open). The only way I can see around it would be to find a BOV that opens more easily under lower pressure, but that can cause other problems.

Definitely bogging if you're at 2k rpm in 5th gear.

it does it anywhere between two and three thousand rpms, and only does it in fifth gear. It does like to do it as bad when the a/c is crankin

My car does not do this any more and I don't think that it's normal if any car does.

It's compressor surge, which is quite normal for turbo cars, especially in low rpms and partial throttle.

Then why does it only do it in 5th gear and not in any other gear?

I'm not sure why it only happens in 5th gear, but a quick Google search shows that this is common among other cars:
