Grinding

Hello, I recently got my 2010 WW Evo GSR and love it, but I have noticed sometimes on upshifts it grinds a little in second and third gears, I know this probably isn't normal but has anyone else had this problem?

Every Evo ever has this problem. Some say changing the transmission to something like AMSOil works. others swear by a short throw shifter with new bushings, a weighted shift knob, or a combination of all of those.

But from what I gather, even if you did all of that it just makes the problem less, it doesn't completely fix it.

He means "transmission oil"

Just deal with it. I have a Short shifter with metal bushings that was supposed to make things better. Guess what, it did not. It happens however only when cold. Try to shift with authority and that way, you might feel some clunkiness, but you won't grind.

That is pretty normal

Does it get better after the car warms up?

As stated, trans fluid swap should help, short throw and bushings should help. Start with the fluid as it is cheaper.

as i've stated MANY times myself... when you push the clutch in and notice the RPM's will rise a hundred or 2. Let them rise and then when they fall back, then shift.

Thats fine and all, but during a spirited drive most folks arent wanting to wait around a few seconds for the RPMs to go up and down to get into a gear without it sounding like the world is ending under the boot.

Redline fluid will help alot. Then get a Short shifter and bushings.

Yes, I did notice this only happens when I first start driving, for the most part. As for love it or leave it, I love the Evo, just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing anything wrong...
