sell the car. when you get promoted or get deployed you can use some extra funds for a fun car. the evo x is unremarkable and not irreplaceable so do what's right for your family. especially if you dont have 2 cars, something that is a little more accommodating to the needs of kids should be on your mind. they need space and an evo is not that spacious even if it has 4 doors. the trunk is small too so good luck on fitting a stroller and anything else in there.

Since your in the military (i am too) and your wife is pregnant, maybe you should consider your wife getting her home daycare certification through the base. I know a few couples that do that and their wife sometimes makes more than them. Just some food for thought.

The X works with kids, especially if you have another larger car for hauling stuff (which you said you had). The X will fit baby stuff and stroller, etc.

Unless you have already made up your mind to get out of the X, I say keep it. If you switch you will get hammered with repair costs for the older car, sales tax, and you will be reamortizing your debt at a higher rate (used cars have higher rates than new).

I agree with the other poster about saving $5 a day to make the $150 a month. If $150 a month really is an issue then the X may have not been a good purchase the first go around, especially with non-DIY maintenance costs on the X.

Just my two cents. Good luck

First and best idea is get promoted.

2nd as boring as it gets, don't go to bars and stuff when TAD (TDY as you army dogs/fly boys like to call it) and save the per diem and such that you will get. When you get deployed as a married military member, this is the best time to save money. With that extra, the payments should not be a big deal.

I honestly feel you should talk to your wife about this carefully.

Work with her to outweigh the pro's and cons. (Im sure you have alrdy, but just in case)

If you 2 are really strapped for cash, get rid of the Evo and don't buy another car for yourself and just depends on your wife's or get a moped.

If you 2 can somehow agree to keep the Evo, drastically cut down on the extra stuff in life like going out to eat or parts for your evo.

Good luck and I wish the best for your family.
