Or those who enjoy spending money on a clutch/master cylinder upgrade as a first mod

wow thanks guys for the responses, im looking at the mr touring since i don't know how to drive a manual transmission - i recently sold my e92 m3 dct which had the paddles on the steering wheel which is why i was a little concerned but i guess you're all right it shouldn't matter - i got an infiniti ex35 thinking i wanted something more practical but im missing having a sporty/performance car and the evo seems like a good way to get back to that without having to take too big a hit cash-wise - thanks again!

Go for it! You'll love it. Don't worry about the paddle shifters. Shifting during a turn is - as repeated - not advised. You'd be upsetting the car while it's on (if you are taking the turn competitively) at it's limits. My recommendation would be, while you are a beginner, shift before you go in so that you are a bit under revved. True, that will put you out of your power band but until you master your car, I'd suggest that as that would be safer. Later on, you will get used to the behavior of the car and find a pattern that will take you through the whole turn within your peak power curve. With all that said, paddles on the column are perfectly fine.

Good luck with the purchase.

I think it's better to have paddles fixed to the steering column... and not turning with the steering wheel. Firstly the paddles on the EVO X MR are pretty long... so you can still hit the paddles if you turn the wheel slightly.

Secondly... what if you are in a big hand-over-hand turn... how would you even know which paddle is which if you spun the steering wheel alot?

So if anything... having paddles fixed is actually a BENEFIT. If you are really concerned about pulling paddles while turning the wheel... then you can always go thru the gearbox by pushing the gear lever forward and back.

I drove yesterday for the first time in sport mode going thru the twisties. I still can't believe how good she felt, downshifting, upshifting always in the perfect gear. She felt 100% like a manual car.
Can't wait to try super sport, maybe tonight?
MRT ftw in the twisties

as for the iPod, my MRT came with the audio jacks. Just press cd down for 3 seconds and you now have iPod music.

Fun car
