potential evo buyer - concern over paddle shifters
I wouldn't worry about having the paddle shifters fixed. It's large enough that you can reach it with your pinky or index finger with your hands at 11 or 1 o'clock. You'll still be able to shift while cornering if it's not too tight.
Check out how the guy in the gt3 shifts. Most of the time he's shifting on the straights but during the fast left-right corners, he'll shift mid-corner but when he does that, the wheel's only turned like 45 degrees.

It is true that you shouldn't unsettle the car in a corner by shifting. Get your downshift done before the corner.
Of course, if you're not driving close to the limit (i.e. on the track), it really doesn't matter much.
Having said all of that, the TC-SST will not unsettle the car in a corner when it shifts. So, feel free to shift away, mid-corner or not. I do it all of the time on the track; well, actually, the car does it for me.

+1 to weneversleep
also it really depends on drivers skill lvl. I instruct HPDE and altho I would never start students out with shifting in mid corner, it is very acceptable once you learn full car slide / weight transfer control. you just have to learn to "unload" the cars weight during that small shifting period.
as far as the Evo X MR goes, it shifts so quickly mid corner it does not even twitch the car a small amount, you will be fine with it.
the paddles are large enough from my experience you can reach then at any hand orientation during any position of the wheel.
the car has power steering. you can easily steer with just one hand, unless you need to make a really sharp turn, which in that case you probably wont ever need to shift. the other hand can hit the paddle. being column mounted, the RIGHT way to do mount them, its always in the same spot.
on a racecar, like F1 cars, where you have much more steering effort and much less turns lock-to-lock, wheel mounted paddles are better as you will need both hands on the wheel at all times.
