potential evo buyer - concern over paddle shifters

hey whats up im new here i just test drove an evo x a couple days ago, what a great car but im a little concerned that the paddle shifters are not on the steering wheel and are in a fixed position behind it - what if you are in the middle of a turn and want to change gears? has anybody had a problem with this or is that way for a reason? aside from no true ipod integration which im willing to live with, this paddle issue is really the only thing holding me back - any info/comments/advice is appreciated

Cannot comment directly on the paddles as I am still breaking mine in however the floor shifter is also an option for such situations I'd imagine.

From what I learned while riding a motorcycle which I think should apply to cars as well is that shifting should be done before or after a turn. You do not want to unsettle the car during a turn, it should be nice and smooth.

As stated in the post before me.

Changing gears whilst turning in a corner = fail.

Before or after, Not during.

If that's happening when your driving, your not doing it right.

The easy solution is to get a GSR, they can handle a lot more power for your future modding too.

Buy a GSR and get a real manual transmission.

You won't be changing in corner so I don't see how its holding you back, but do you usually change in corners or ever done it at most I'd imagine a quick first gear for a halt.

If it is that important to you to shift while turning (though like everyone else said, not advised), a vender on here has a conversion kit that is mounted to the steering wheel not the column. I for the life of me can't remember who has it though. Good luck either way.

the proper place to mount paddle shifts is on the steering column NOT on the wheel.

+1 for the MR its a great DD, the padle shifters can still be used while turning, and if in doubt 1 hand wheel, 1 hand on the shifter knob its just as easy either way tho.

GSR for those who cant afford the MRT :P

just playin

Or those who want a pure 3-pedal sports car with no tranny over-heating issues or $200 fluid changes
