I’ve experienced my Oil Press gauge drop after being in anti lag the last time I drove my evo 8. Occurred after letting off a pop and is now fluctuating between normal and low whilst idling as shown in the attached video. Engine oil is good. Any ideas on what this could be? Is it just the oil pressure switch which needs changing?

 

Cut open the oil filter, check for bearing material

 

Have checked oil filter and changed oil. No metal or other material found, any other ideas what it could be?

 

I can't see the video but is this a gauge or the light on the dash?

Have you tried another oil pressure sensor? Maybe it died.

 

Ran a diagnostic, gauge matches the ECU

Seems like its probably hurt then. You could try a different gauge and sensor to verify the results but if there are multiple sensors saying its low, its probably hurt.

 

thermostat for the oil cooler?
i think mine started showing lower oil pressure readings since I upgraded my oil cooler
